The 2016 season at the Telo Island Lodge has lived up to its quality, wave-bearing reputation. As usual, our warm water tropical paradise received the perfect combination of user friendly swell and super clean conditions.
The scattered islands of the Telos provide a multitude of wave options, for skill levels from beginner to advanced, on whatever your favourite watercraft may be. Many of our very accessible breaks are suitable for Mals or Stand Up Paddle boards, with the more charitable spots often situated right around the corner (or across the bay) from a more technical, barreling wave. This proximity often results in an easy split of groups between our two boats, providing for optimum individual comfort and stoke levels!
Our house waves, a mechanical “Max’s Right” and the picturesque “Pinnacles,” would have to be the standout surf spots of the year. Each is situated on the doorstep of our two all-inclusive resorts, “Telo Island Lodge” and “Pinnacles On Telo,” respectively. They could generally be described as easy-going right handers, but with the right conditions they have the potential for larger, rippable walls and barrels. That’s not to say we don’t have a diversity of waves within an hour of both locations, with “Kindies,” “The Bubble,” Max’s Left” and “GT’s” being some of the other uncrowded destinations we regularly visit.
We’ve loved every minute of 2016 here in the Telos and have actually been able to extend the season into December for a few lucky guests thanks to the expected consistent wave quality. The newly opened “Pinnacles On Telo” will be a great place to keep the whole family indulged amongst a rejuvenating and luxurious setting. Happily, Pinnacles surf guests will also have coordinated access to many of the very same waves we enjoy at Telo Island Lodge.
