Sibon Jaya is a 70ft Aluminum Power Catamaran built in 2015 especially for surf trips in Indonesia. The boat was designed by the Australian legend Robert Wilson, who came for the first time to Indonesia in 1974. As his 7th boat, Robert brought to Sibon Jaya all the experience he's had in the last decades, combining speed, comfort, safety and many luxury details to deliver the best and most comfortable surf experience anyone could have in the Mentawais.
The boat has Twin Cummins QSB 6.7 Engines, delivering speed up to 13 knots. The two Onan 13.5 KVA generators are totally silent (you won’t ever hear them). It has 10 tons of fuel
capacity, 6 tons of water capacity and a water maker that can make 400 litres per hour.
In total there are 5 cabins on Jiwa Alam:
Room 1: At the bottom. 3 Single beds and ensuite bathroom. The double bed bellow becomes 2 single beds.
Room 2: At the bottom. 3 Single beds and ensuite bathroom. The double bed bellow becomes 2 single beds.
Room 3: At the bottom. 2 Single beds and ensuite bathroom.
Room 4: At the bottom. 2 Single beds and ensuite bathroom.
Room 5: At the top. 4 Single beds and no bathroom inside.
Sibon Jaya has 4 solar panels to ensure you a hot shower (if you wish) in all ensuite bathrooms, but the luxury begins inside the dining room end of your suite. All rooms are equipped with 220V plugs around all beds, reading lights and luxury linens... a true 5 star cabin experience. All doors and walls are sound insulated from the engine room noise and you won’t even hear the water hitting outside the hull when anchored.
The rear upper deck displays a spacious area with many sofas and lots of room to entertain, enjoy a cold beverage, or lay down while watching perfect waves and magnificently colourful sunsets unique to the Mentawai Islands.
And to not compromise guest’s comfort, all indoor spaces are air-conditioned; the boat is equipped with sound system, a spacious dining room with TV LCD 42’ and a DVD player; one more big bathroom outside which guests are welcome to use anytime; along with complimentary outdoor equipment (fishing gear, two kayaks, snorkels and standup paddle).
All these carefully planned features are designed to give you a truly relaxing 5-star charter.
On Sibon Jaya all meals are included as well as beverages like juices, soft drinks, tea, coffee and beer (24 beers per person - if you wish more, you can order before departure and you will be charged the local price). With high quality and selected ingredients such as fresh fish, lobster, prawns, squids, lamb, fresh vegetables, your chef prepares three large meals daily.
Breakfast: Your choice of eggs, pancakes, fresh fruit salad, yogurt, selection of breads, cakes, cheeses, cereals, coffee, juices and what else you desire... as much as you want.
Lunch: Healthy and nutritious meals, chef's choice. This meal is usually a light and healthy meal, for a special reason: we want guests to have energy for the afternoon's surf session. For that reason, it's important to eat easy-to-digest meals.
Dinner: After an intense and perfect surf day, your chef will make a big, delicious and elaborate meal, with many options of protein, carbs, salads, fresh vegetables, all made with
selected and high quality ingredients.
Besides these three big meals, Sibon Jaya offers a variety of snacks to eat at any time of the day and as much as you want. Cookies, fruits, yoghurt, nuts, breads, jelly, peanut butter, a selection of high quality chocolates, cereals, biscuits and much more. Just make yourself at home and eat whatever you want, anytime.

Captain Ridho is an intelligent and proficient man of the sea. He has been the captain of many different kinds of vessels and his qualifications and licenses are all currently up to date. The Sibon Charter Company has chosen Captain Ridho exclusively due to his skills as a seasoned captain, his responsibility and safety for all people onboard, and his deep knowledge of the islands and the waves. Sibon Charters expresses great joy to have him as the master of their vessel, Sibon Jaya.
Surf Guide, Rick Estevez has surfing in his blood. Growing up in Southern California he was exposed to a broad spectrum of surf culture. At age 20, realizing that his healthy addiction of surfing was guiding his path, he set out on a global mission to search for and find the most perfect waves that this planet has to offer. It is the Mentawai Islands that has been the prize and glory! In the process of becoming aquainted with the world, a profound desire was sparked to document and share the beauty that is everywhere. Rick bought his first camera over a decade ago and has since been upgrading equipment and fine-tuning skills. Working as a photographer/videographer has financed and supported his current lifestyle. Since 2012 Rick has dedicated over 8 months of each year guiding surf charter boats in the Mentawai Islands, and the rest of the year shooting somewhere around the world.
Sibon Jaya departs from Padang harbor in Sumatra. As soon as you arrive at the airport, you don't have to worry about anything else. A staff member for Sibon Charters will
be waiting for you and your friends on the arrival, forwarding your luggage and boardbags to the harbor. Passengers will be transferred seperately in an air-conditioned and comfortable van. Don't forget your International Certificate of Vaccination against Yellow Fever (ICV), which is mandatory in Indonesia (if you come from a high risk country). If your flight arrives too early before the boat departure, the team will take you to Bonsai Surf Lodge, another partner of Sibon Charters that is ready to accommodate you as long as necessary, with no additional cost. The lodge offers restaurant service and free use of pool and internet access.
Sibon's crew is formed by six people. The captain, with an amazing knowledge of all the surf spots in North Indo. The chef, who has been working with Sibon Charters since 2012, and has years of experience cooking on many other charter boats. He has magic hands and makes gourmet and unforgettable meals.
The Mechanical Engineer is very experienced and has a deep and specific knowledge of Sibon's engines and machines. The crew also has two more deck hands. One of them is in charge of the daily cleaning and room service and the other one is all day long ready to take guests to the waves and beaches by dingy.
Sibon Jaya also has a Photographer & Videomaker, extremely competent and dedicated, ready all day to register all those special moments of the trip. He will take pictures of surf sessions from in the water, from the dingy or from the land, as well as register many lifestyle moments of the guests. Besides being a surf guide, he knows the Mentawais really well and by analizing the weekly swell and considering all guest’s preferences, he guides the charter to the best waves each day.
