Raglan Surf Lodge is a unique eco designed lodge built for rest, rejuvenation and playful inspiration.

A short walk from the world famous surfbreaks of Manu Bay and Ngarunui Beach, the lodge is nestled on 10 acres at the foot of Mt Karioi with amazing views over the Tasman Sea in magical Raglan, New Zealand.

The luxurious eco accommodation is suitable for all budgets showcasing sustainable practices. There are dorm style rooms perfect for groups who just want a place to stay between surfs or there are self contained rooms suitable for couples or small families.

Raglan is only a short walk from Raglan Surf Lodge so surfers can indulge at any time.

Eco Accommodation at Raglan Surf Lodge has been designed with sustainability at the forefront.

Using recycled materials and even an old train carriage. Raglan Surf Lodge caters to solo’s, couples, groups and families with a variety of budgets.

Accommodation:

Overlander Train – A 17 metre converted NZ railways carriage featuring a queen bed at one end in a private bedroom, day bed/couch, TV, dining table and chairs, kitchenette with stove tops, shower and toilet. All linen & towels are provided. Ideal for a couple or small family.

Summer House – Featuring Queen bed, set of bunk beds, fully equipped kitchenette with stove tops, TV, dining table and sofa in an open plan studio space. Separate washroom. Private outdoor area including dining furniture. Beautiful views of the harbour and ocean. All linen & towels are provided.

Family Bach – A contemporary style holiday house featuring 2 bedrooms off the main open plan living area of fully equipped kitchen and lounge, and bathroom with shower and toilet. Master bedroom contains a King bed (which at request can be converted to 2 single beds), the 2nd bedroom contains 2 x Single beds (which at request can be converted to a King Bed). Plus in the living room area there is a 1 x Single day bed. All linen & towels are provided.

Ivy Cottage – A classic kiwi seaside bach – rustic and charming – featuring mezzanine room with super-king bed and a set of bunk beds behind a partition wall. Ground floor has another single bed off the lounge (under the stairs). Also on the groundfloor is the kitchen including full oven/stove & dining area, separate washroom, and outdoor decking with gorgeous ocean views. All linen & towels are included.

Eco Bach Units – There are 2 x Eco Bach units, set within one larger passive solar designed Eco House constructed of natural timbers and Earth brick. Featuring a queen size futon bed and single futon day bed, fully equipped kitchen, breakfast bar, outside dining area, separate washroom, luggage/wardrobe area with full length mirror, TV/DVD. The space is an open plan studio with cathedral ceiling and double-glazed, north facing window wall, opening up to outdoor decking area with beautiful views of gardens extending out to harbour, ocean, and coastline. All linen & towels are provided.

Meals

Raglan Surf Lodge prepare plant-based eco-cuisine delivering delicious meals served over breathtaking scenery with sweeping sea views.

The delicious meals start from the on-site garden where guests are encouraged to spend time and join in on workshops.

The cafe is a popular spot with guests and outside members of the community. The cafe serves a variety of cuisines for every meal of the day. Some of the favorites include:

– Granola bowls
– Big Breakfast
– Banana and blueberry pancakes
– Veggie burger
– Wood fire pizzas

The cafe is also a great venue for live music and often acoustic tunes will play in the background as you admire the view and enjoy your coffee.

Raglan is known around the world for having one of the longest and highest quality left handers imaginable.

The town of Raglan is located approximately 160kms from Auckland and 36kms West from nearest city, Hamilton.

It is the perfect surf town with interesting creative culture and a wonderul choice of local cafes, restaurants and bars.

The town of Raglan offers approximately 50 surf breaks with a variety of river mouths, points and beachies. Many waves are located on private farmland, making it essential to have a surf guide to gain access and navigate through the maze of paddocks and back roads.

Raglan is the most consistent wave surfable in a variety of conditions. It is also suitable for a range of ability levels.

Raglan’s creative culture and vibrant streets offer a smorgasboard of cafes, restaurants and bars to keep you busy.

BUT, it wouldnt be a holiday to New Zealand without enjoying the adventurous side of things. Raglan and the nearby city of Hamilton offers a huge selection of activities perfect for when you arent surfing or its gone flat.

Some of the best non-surf activities recommended include:

Rock climbing, canyoning, learn to surf, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, art and cooking workshops, white water rafting, hiking and wine tours.

Some of the best sites to see include:

– In the lush Matamata farmland you can visit the original and permanent Hobbiton movie set from Lord of the rings. Its a popular and fascinating 1 hour guided tour the whole family will enjoy.

– Hamilton hot air ballooning is a great way to see the city with spectacular views all the way to the coastline.

– Hamilton Zoo is a popular wildlife sanctuary/conservation park with native birds, tigers, rhino’s, lemurs, gorillas and much more.
