Surf Niyama Resort Maldives
Niyama Resort in the Maldives is located in the Western Central Atoll region of Dhaalu Atoll and offers up waves suited to beginner to more experienced surfers. From mellow and playful, to hollow barrels and steep take-offs, there’s something for everyone.
If you’re looking for empty waves, this is one of the Maldives’ best kept secrets, with a variety of surf breaks only a short boat trip away. Niyama is also the only island in the area with a wave that breaks right onto the shore.
VODI
Vodi breaks right off the southwestern tip of Niyama. The only way to access this left-hander is from the ‘surf shack’, so you can surf it whenever you please. With a more southerly swell, Vodi has two or three sections that link up really well. There’s an outside section that slingshots you through to surf down the line and a super hollow middle section that stands up before shutting down on the inside.
KASABU
One of the longest (and most fun) rights in the Maldives, this wave is only a five minute boat ride from Niyama Resort. No matter what type of craft you ride, Kasabu offers up super rideable waves that are more consistent at the 3 to 5 ft range. Drop into the outside section of Kasabu, then hit a couple of playful sections before the swell wraps around the reef through a fun inside section that seems to go forever.
HOCUS POCUS
If you’ve surfed Cokes in the North Malé Atoll, there’s a big chance you’ll love Hocus Pocus. While it requires more swell than Kasabu, Hocus Pocus is a much hollower and steeper wave. With the right swell and wind conditions, this is a high performance wave with serious barrel sections.
Surf Guides
Experienced Surf Guides
At Niyama Resort guests have access to a watersports operator that offers a variety of tailormade surf programs and services to suit all surfing levels.
Float Niyama Private Islands provides beginner coaching courses that include on-demand boat transfers to surf breaks away from the resort, as well as coaching and video analysis for more advanced surfers to take their surfing to the next level.
Explore the waves by seaplane
For the ultimate luxury surf experience, book a private seaplane and discover unknown waves and secret spots in the surrounding atolls. The seaplane gives you direct access to a huge array of waves, dropping you off right behind the wave, and taking you home with memories you’ll have for the rest of your life.
Non-Surf Activities
Whether you want to discover the secrets of the reef at night by torchlight, salute the sun in a dawn yoga session or go sunset dolphin spotting, Niyama Resort offers a variety of fun and exciting non-surf activities for the whole family.
