Surf Moon Beach Resort

Simeulue is considered one of the best islands for surfing in the world and should be high on your list of surfing priorities.

There are a minimum of 10 quality surf breaks in close proximity to Moon Beach Resort. The Peak is a 5 minute trip by land, Dylans Right is roughly 15 minutes and breaks such as Tea Bags is 30 minutes by speed boat. Moon Beach Resort surf guides are always keen and willing to adventure further afield to find uncrowded waves. As far as location goes, Moon Beach Resort is the most central to all waves on Simeulue.

The Peak – A fun left and right, both barreling and nice walling sections. Anyone from Beg/Int – Advanced can enjoy this wave.

Dylans Right – Hollow fast right hander which breaks over a shallow reef. Intermediate surfers +

Tea Bags Right – Only accessible by boat. Starts breaking when The Peak is 4ft plus. Takes roughly 30 minutes by boat

Thailand Left – Approximately 1 hour drive from Moon Beach Resort. Followed by a 15 minute boat trip. An amazing wave that goes high on the perfection scale when the stars align. Requires North – East facing winds…Makes for a great day trip if its on.

Northies Right & Left – Similar to the Peak but often far less crowded. Fun waves and a good option if The Peak is on the bigger side.

South Bay Right & Left – A thick right hander along a point and a left on the other side. Great option for advanced surfers.

Non-Surf Activities

Moon Beach Resort caters to and welcomes non-surfing guests. The resort has an outer reef nearby perfect for snorkeling and spear fishing.

The island is also a beautiful place to explore. Whether you want to hike to beautiful waterfalls or visit local village markets, its all there. We regularly venture out to Teabags surf breaks which is also a stunning journey and magical spot to go fishing or snorkeling.

The resort itself is also a great place to relax. The swimming pool is a private oasis for those who want to sit back, read a book or doze off in a noise free environment.

Daily massages can also be arranged with resort manager.
