The Huvadhoo and Addu Atolls, referred to as the Outer Atolls, are located in the most southern area of the Maldives. This remote, south-facing coastline is hit with clean southerly swells all year round. While wave size is generally smaller than the more northerly atolls, here you’ll have an opportunity to stumble upon Maldivian surf perfection.
The best known waves in the Outer Atolls are Beacons, Castaways and Tiger Stripes. Beacons and Tiger Stripes are well-known as two of the most powerful waves in the Maldives, fast and barreling above shallow reef.
For the best conditions early (March to May) and late (September to November) season are the best times to book a surf charter to the Outer Atolls, with empty waves and more consistent swell.
On a surf charter you need an experienced surf guide with knowledge of the local surf breaks. On board Maavahi, we provide the most experienced surf guides you will ever meet, many of whom grew up surfing the area.
Our surf guides are constantly checking surf conditions. They stay in contact with other skippers/surf guides in the area to find fun and empty waves for guests staying on board Maavahi.
You’re in capable hands with our World Surfaris surf guides who have a solid understanding of swells, tides and winds - and may even introduce you to a few secret spots!
You don’t have to be a surfer to have fun on board Maavahi, there are plenty of other things to keep you entertained. A range of recreational activities are available to help you explore the beautiful Outer Atolls and the local islands. For a unique experience the Maavahi crew can even organise a special BBQ dinner and bonfire on a deserted island or sandbank!
