Surfing Bali
La Joya Surf Villas is a favourite among the World Surfaris team as it gives surfers easy access to many of Bali’s best surf breaks as it’s ideally positioned in one of the most wave-rich regions of Bali. Balangan Beach is your closest surf break, with fun waves and an amazing left-hander in the right conditions. With a variety of epic waves on offer, a surf trip to La Joya Surf Villas will be one to remember.

Located on top of a stunning cliff that overlooks Balangan Beach, La Joya Surf Villas offers an array of accommodation options for your Bali surf trip. Whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple, or with your entire family, La Joya Surf Villas has something to suit everyone. From a private villa with sweeping ocean views to a deluxe bungalow set amidst a lush tropical garden, each accommodation type has been thoughtfully designed to provide guests with ultimate comfort and relaxation.
For larger groups, the entire villa can be booked exclusively for up to 18 guests.
Standard Rooms
A comfortable room that opens up onto an outdoor terrace. At 30 sqm, the standard room features one mosquito-netted queen-sized bed and a standing shower.
Deluxe Rooms
Slightly bigger than the standard room, the deluxe room is 32 sqm and features one mosquito-netted queen-sized bed, a standing shower and a connecting outdoor terrace.
Friends & Family Rooms
A split-level room that is perfectly suited to friends or small families. The friends and family room is 36 sqm, and has one mosquito-netted queen-sized bed and one double-size daybed, a standing shower and a shared balcony.
Standard Bungalow
The standard bungalow is located in a beautiful open garden, and at 33 sqm it features one mosquito-netted queen-sized bed and side lounge, a separate standing shower and an exclusive outdoor terrace.
Deluxe Bungalow
The stand-alone deluxe bungalow is located in the beautiful open garden and features one mosquito-netted queen-sized bed and a side lounge large enough to sleep one adult. It is 35 sqm and has a separate standing shower and an exclusive outdoor terrace.
Private Villa
The spacious private villa is 180 sqm and features a private swimming pool and outdoor jacuzzi, outdoor shower and direct access to Balangan Beach. It has a living room with a long sofa and side lounging area, dining area, and kitchenette and accommodates eight to 10 people.
The three bedrooms are spread across two levels, and a stand-alone lodge. The stand-alone lodge has one private room with a mosquito-netted queen-sized bed and semi-open shower, while the ground floor features a private room with a queen-sized bed and open bathtub. The second storey offers an open-style loft with three double daybeds.
Meals
La Joya Surf Villa’s restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers a beautiful selection of Western and local Indonesian cuisine. Breakfast starts at 7am and the local chefs provide a variety of options including omelettes, fresh fruit and smoothies. Lunch at La Joya Surf Villas includes a selection from the a la carte menu.
Dinner at La Joya Surf Villas is optional, as there are so many amazing restaurants to choose from on the Bukit Peninsula. If you decide to dine at La Joya Villas, there is a choice of five traditionally-cooked meals that are prepared with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.
Surf La Joya Surf Villas
Surfing Bali is a dream come true for many people, and the Bukit Peninsula is one of the most sought-after destinations on the island. The closest break to your accommodation is Balangan, an amazing left-hander that’s a swell magnet on the Bukit Peninsula.
Daily surf trips to explore waves further afield are also available with the villa surf guides, who will take you to a variety of breaks including Dreamland, Bingin, Impossibles, Padang Padang and of course the world-famous Uluwatu. Surfing lessons are available for beginner surfers.
Balangan
The closest break to La Joya Surf Villas, Balangan is a fun left-hander that attracts plenty of swell. This wave is great for beginners to more experienced surfers, with multiple sections on smaller days and waves all the way to the beach on bigger swells.
Dreamland
Make your way past the golf course and hotels and you’ll find Dreamland, a wave that breaks over deep water and a sand-covered reef. Renowned for its solid shorey in certain conditions, it’s a great wave for beginners and performs better on lower tides.
Bingin
Easily one of the best and most mechanical waves on the Bukit Peninsula, Bingin is a fun left-hander that offers surfers hollow barrels on the low tide and is a bit more user-friendly when the tide is high.
Impossibles
Impossibles looks like the perfect left-hander from afar, but as the name suggests, it can be impossible to make the sections unless you get the right conditions. Impossibles is perfect on a 4 – 6 ft swell and offers fun barrels for lucky surfers.
Padang Padang
Another one of the Bukit’s most famous surf breaks, Padang Padang is well-known for epic barrels, but needs a good swell for it to break properly. Surfers will experience a steep take-off straight into a barrel, followed by another barrel section before you reach the channel.
There’s also another smaller and more mellow break called ‘Baby Padang’ on the other side of the channel which is good for beginners in smaller swells.
Uluwatu
This world-famous left-hand break is one of the biggest draw cards of the Bukit Peninsula. Uluwatu works in swells from 2 to 20 ft and is a long reef break that offers five main sections, Racetrack, The Peak, Temples, Outside Corner and the Bombie.
Non-Surf Activities
As a family-friendly resort, La Joya Surf Villas offers plenty of activities for non-surfers. Laze by the beautiful pool and enjoy a cocktail or two, or indulge in a Balinese massage at the day spa. If you’re feeling adventurous you can book a variety of tours to popular Bali attractions such as Waterbom Park and Bali Zoo, as well as day tours to Ubud and Nusa Lembongan.
If you’d prefer to be on your mat, a yoga and meditation programme is available under the cliff-edge gazebo, with the sounds of the ocean taking your practice to a whole new level. Guests can take a boat trip, try a spot of fishing or find some delicacies in La Joya Surf Villas’ on-site shop.
