One of the world's best lefts

Legendary left-hander!  Awesome surf camp with Aussie managers!  G-Land Joyo's Surf Camp is set amongst a national park called Alas Purwo and is open March to November.  This incredible surf camp has been constructed in the jungle, just off the beach and directly in front of the famous section of reef known as Speedies.

G-Land is a Mecca for travelling surfers.  Surf-hungry adventurers from all over the world flock to the Javanese jungle each year between March and November to sample G-Land's jewels.  During these months the swell is generally constant and flat spells are rare, which makes G-Land one of the world's most consistent breaks.

Travelling to G-Land is easy. The minibus driver will pick you up from your hotel in Bali just after midnight.  From there, it is an overnight drive to Gilimanuk and a car ferry to Grajagan.  Next is a 45 minute speedboat ride, arriving at Jungle Beach Village in the early morning for breakfast.  Return transfers from Bali are included in the package price.

A surf guide's perspective (by Dave Scard)

More than just a name or a place, G-Land is a haven. So close but yet so far from Bali, G-Land is a magnet for swell and is definitely not overrated. The set up in G-Land is simple and the relaxed atmosphere and pumping waves make for an experience like no other surf trip. Once you arrive at this all-inclusive camp, you don't have to worry about a thing. The biggest decision of the day is choosing what board to ride and your Joyo's surf guide can even help with that.

Jungle-style living

G-Land Jungle Surf Camp has cottage-style rooms, all very comfortable and with private bathrooms. All rooms have twin beds with mosquito nets and Balinese furniture. The holiday accommodation in G-Land has come a long way since the early days and is now even suitable for adventurous non-surfing partners! Envisage a basic yet comfortable surf camp with a variety of accommodation standards, great food, Aussie surf guides and surf out front... all set in the remote Javanese jungle.

Surf G-Land - Joyo's Surf Camp

G-Land:  is definitely not overrated as a wave.  Three main sections exist, depending on tide and swell.

Kong's: The outside reef, surfable at low tide up to the limits of your courage. Only connects with Moneytrees on huge swells.

Moneytrees: The prime take off point, from the Moneytrees section the wave lifts at an inside peak called Launching Pads, then reaches top speed and its climax on an inside wedge and long-running section that has appropriately been named Speedies. It is the shallow Speedies section that has produced some of the most insane adrenaline-pumping barrel rides yet.

Other breaks: There are a couple of other novelty breaks at G-Land namely Chickens, 20/20's and a nice right hander nicknamed Tiger Trails which is quite popular with the natural footers and makes a nice change at times to the sometimes intimidating main break.

Optimum surf conditions:

Swell:  Sth
Wind:  Varies From SE to NW depending on region and time of year.

Excellent trip plenty of great waves.  Food at Joyos was generally really good.  Good afternoon catch up at the beach with the best hotdogs and beer.  I did not have a mossie net but the AC seemed to keep them away.  They definitely need an early light breakie at 5.30am. Coffee and fruit would a...

Staff and crew there were helpful and friendly.  Plenty of food options and all fresh.  Stayed in VIP rooms. A/C, fans and clean. Plenty of room to put gear and balcony to store boards and to dry gear.  Picked up from Tuban to be taken to boat. Guys were on time and packed our luggage. Boards...
