Overview

Remote Outer Atolls

For the month of April, the Emperor Virgo surf charter will be deployed for 3 X 10 Night Outer Atoll Trips.  Huvadhoo and Addu Atolls (referred often as the Southern/Outer Atolls) are located in the most southern section of the Maldives.  Although it is not completely uncrowded there are certainly fewer surf charters and surf resorts operating in this area, causing even the most popular spots in this region to be less crowded than the Northern Atolls. Of all the Maldives surf spots, the breaks in the Outer Atolls remain among the most secluded and idyllic, preserving the reality of a remote island paradise that comes complete with incredible waves.

MV Emperor Virgo

Accommodating up to 16 guests (we recommend only 12 surfers), all 9 Emperor Virgo cabins have double/twin beds, plus one cabin can be booked as a triple with a small single bed. All cabins feature private ensuites and air-conditioning. Upper and main deck cabins have large windows giving amazing views to the ocean and islands beyond.

Decorated in light wood and contemporary style, the main deck has a large saloon with comfy sofas. The bar is fully licensed so you can enjoy your favourite beverage as the sun dips below the horizon. The upper deck has loungers for sun bathing and just kicking back.

Non-surfing partners are welcome and can spend a relaxing holiday swimming, snorkelling or simply sunbathing and chilling on the expansive sun deck.

Surf Dhoni

Emperor Virgo will also have a dhoni support vessel for the season. So not only will guests be cruising the Outer Atolls in style aboard Virgo but they will have a dhoni following them around making it a great option for non-surfing couples, fishing trips or splitting the surfers into two groups.

Surf

Of all the Maldives surf spots, the breaks in the Outer Atolls remain among the most secluded and idyllic, preserving the reality of a remote island paradise that comes complete with incredible waves.

The best known waves in the area are Beacons, Castaways, and Tiger Stripes. Beacons and Tiger Stripes are touted as two of the most powerful waves in the Maldives, barreling down fast and hard on a shallow reef hugging drainer. Fortunately for most, this is not as frequent as the likes of Indonesia or some breaks scattered around the Pacific Ocean. Generally speaking the waves of the Outer Atolls are ruler edged and perfect.

Although these waves tend to be smaller than some of the more northerly atolls, the south-facing coastline really opens the breaks up to the southern swells that flood the area. Clean southern swells bombard the Outer Atolls just about all year.

Non Surf Activities

The fishing is some of the best in the world and the amazing variety of species will keep the hardcore angler stoked and the novice angler hooked!  The crew of the Emperor Virgo love fishing and are happy to assist.  Keen fishermen should take their own game rod, reel and lures!

The Maldives is one of the prettiest island paradises in the world and the Central Atolls offer you the opportunity to witness remote locations that few tourists have ever seen.  Watching the sunset over the islands whilst sipping on a cold beer after a rewarding days surfing with just you and your mates is as good it gets!

Bring your SUP and cruise around in the beautiful lagoons swarming with all kinds of marine life or take a snorkel set and dive in at one of the popular reefs nearby. Whenever you aren't surfing, there is plenty to see and do.
