Surf Baha Baha Villas
West Sumbawa is an untouched paradise and one of the best surfing destinations in Indonesia. Out the front of Baha Baha Villas are three world-class breaks including The Hook, Yoyo’s and The Wedge. There are also a range of other waves nearby to suit all levels of surfing, and thanks to the remote location, you may even discover a wave to surf all to yourself!
The Hook
The Hook is a consistent, fast right-hander that can have two barrel sections and breaks near the channel. It’s super fun on smaller days and more challenging when it’s bigger.
Yoyo's
Yoyo’s is one of the most consistent waves in Indonesia and is a fun wave from waist-high to a couple of feet overhead.
The Wedge
This wave is slow but powerful and can handle big swells. It’s consistent and located at the far right corner of the beach.
Tropicals
Not far away (only three minutes by car or bike), is a fun wave off a tropical beach that offers rides for beginner to intermediate surfers. It’s a consistent left and right-hand reef break with easy channel access.
Supersuck
Supersuck is 15 minutes away in Maluk and definitely one of the best waves (and barrels) in Indonesia. Surfing Supersuck is only for intermediate to advanced surfers, a left-hand reef break that offers very fast, hollow barrels and works when Yoyo’s is more than 6 ft.
Donuts
Donuts is a right-hander in the middle of Maluk Bay with great barrels and fun waves when it’s smaller.
Scar Reef
Scar Reef is a powerful left-hander that offers long rippable walls on the right tides and amazing barrels on low tide. Surfing Scar Reef has been compared to the world-class break G-Land, and is offshore in southwesterly trade winds.
Dirty Hippies
Dirty Hippies is a short, fun and hollow left-hand barrel that should be avoided on low tide as it gets very shallow. It’s also very fun during smaller swells.
Little Bingin
As the name suggests, this wave is very similar to the famous Bingin left-hand surf break in Bali. It’s located on the opposite side to Scar Reef and is a fun a-frame when it’s small, and offers stand-up barrels on bigger days. Watch the reef on low tide, it gets very shallow!
Phantoms
Phantoms is a short, but fun wave that’s opposite Scar Reef. It’s a right-hander that offers surfers a fun section before it closes out.
Northern Rights
It’s not the most consistent wave in Sumbawa, but when conditions are right it offers a fast, barrelling right-hander. It’s fun on smaller days and much more challenging during bigger swells.
Non-Surf Activities
Besides surfing, there are many activities to keep you busy at Baha Baha Villas. There are some amazing mountain hikes with incredible views, and fishing is popular in this part of Indonesia. You can schedule a fishing charter from Baha Baha Villas and embark on a day-long adventure with a packed lunch and an esky full of cold drinks.
