Surf Baha Baha Villas

West Sumbawa has some of the best waves in Indonesia. It is also quite remote and relatively untouched by Western influence. It's very common to drive through a local village where horse and cart is the best way to get around. These villages sit at the coast of a lot of the surf breaks you will surf during your trip to Baha Baha Villas.

There are three world class breaks out the front of Baha Baha Villas which include The Hook, Yoyo's and the Wedge.

Nearby is a tropical beach (3 minutes by car or bike), which has white sandy beaches and beginner-friendly / intermediate waves consisting of a left and right reef break, with a channel between for easy access.

15 minutes by transport is Supersuck located in Maluk.  This is an intermediate - advanced left hand reef break, very hollow barrel and works when Yoyo's is 6ft plus.

Also in the area is Playgrounds and Doughnuts for the surfer who wants waves with not too much grunt.

40 minutes further towards the north west side of the island is Scar Reef, which is a long left hand reef break, once again for the intermediate - advanced surfer and breaking when Yoyo's is above 6ft. In the Scar Reef area, there are also other waves such as Little Bingin and Phantoms for the less advanced surfer.

Katasarai, located 1.5hrs to the north, is home to Dirty Hippies, a short left hand barrel.  Also Northern Rights, a long right hand reef point break. These are the main waves in the area but guests can also explore many untouched beaches around... maybe even finding a wave to surf by themselves.

Non-Surf Activities

West Sumbawa is full of activities while you aren't surfing or to fill those gaps when conditions aren't ideal.

Close to Baha Baha Villas is a great mountain hike with absolutely incredible views looking North towards Tropicals and South to Yoyo's and beyond.

Fishing is also hugely popular in this part of Indo. You can schedule a fishing charter from Baha Baha Villas and make a day of it with a packed lunch and esky cold Bintangs.

Waterfalls, swimming lagoons and local village tours are also hugely popular and easily accessible by hired scooter or in one of the vans.

for Baha Baha Villas

Trip was great and great waves were had. Good value for money and West Sumbawa delivered the waves. Shout out to our World Surfaris surf guide in Bali who tried his absolute best to find us the best waves in the limited time and conditions available when we transited through Denpasar. Small...

An awesome trip with five mates for my 40th. West Sumbawa feels a bit like Bali was 20 years ago. We scored a wide variety of swell size, mostly larger swells, so it's great having lots of options. Didn't get to surf Yoyos out the front much because it was too big. The accommodation was...

Beautiful place... accommodation was great, nice and tidy. Good facilities and the staff were excellent. The ping pong table was fun to have and they had a TV over the bar which we could play the photos on. You could hook up Bluetooth and play any music you wanted plus good Wi-Fi.  The food was...
