The Top 6 Lohis FAQ
You’ve definitely heard of the Maldives as a bucket list surf trip destination, and you’ve probably heard of Lohis Left too, the world-class wave that breaks directly out the front of Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort. Here at World Surfaris, Lohis surf trips are by far our most-booked, with a cult-like crew of repeaters who can’t seem to get enough (we don’t blame ’em). If you’re tempted but still don’t know what all the hype is about, here are the answers to some frequently asked questions we get on the daily.
Question 1
What is there for my partner to do while I surf?
There is an abundance of non-surfing activities on offer at Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort. If your partner is into surfing but doesn’t actually surf, then the Lohis Deck is the place to be. Featuring shaded sun loungers, all-day pizza and drinks, and incredible views of the waves and islands in the background, the Lohis Deck is every surfer’s go-to hangout spot. If you’re heading out to a nearby break like Sultans, Honkeys or Jailbreaks, your partner is welcome to come along for the boat ride and swim or snorkel the reef while you surf.
For something a little more indulgent, non-surfing partners can enjoy a treatment at the Chavana Day Spa, a lush and tranquil oasis perfect for relaxing and unwinding. An exclusive to World Surfaris clients, take advantage of a 20% off discount applicable to all treatments at Chavana.
For the adventure-seekers, Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort offers a variety of water sports like snorkelling, diving, stand-up paddle boarding and jet skiing. Non-motorised water sports and gear is included in your stay, and motorised experiences come at an additional charge. Don’t forget the resort gym or sporting facilities if you’re keen to work up a sweat, from yoga to beach volleyball, there’s something for everyone.
Otherwise, take things at a slower pace and kick back on a sun lounger by the pool or beach. With all-inclusive dining and drinks as well as natural beauty everywhere you look, it’s almost impossible to feel bored on this island.
Another World Surfaris benefit, non-surfing partners can redeem their $50 USD daily credit on Chavana Day Spa treatments, the Dive Centre, motorized water sports and other selected excursions and experiences.

Question 2
How can I score the lowest price?
If you’re a bargain hunter with a Lohis surf trip at the top of your bucket list, you’ve landed at the right place. World Surfaris guarantees the lowest price for surfers and their loved ones staying at Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort and offers more (and exclusive) package inclusions.
For the cheapest all-inclusive price, the best time to book is during our annual Lohis sale, which usually kicks off in September or October and continues for a few weeks. During this period, you can score anywhere from 20% to 40% off your stay, depending on your travel dates the following year. It’s worth noting that selected peak-season dates in April, May, July, and August can sometimes book out more than a year in advance, meaning if you wait for the sale, availability may already be limited.
If you happen to find a better price elsewhere, we will happily price match (or beat) any written quote. Our service (comprehensive travel support and expert region knowledge) is 100% complimentary, so why not save some dollars, enjoy extra inclusions, and have all the travel admin and logistics associated with your surf trip sorted for you? It’s literally free!
To get things moving, simply fill out an enquiry form and someone from our team will be in touch with a quote. From there, you can discuss your surf trip as much or as little as you want with us via phone, email, WhatsApp, or in-person at one of our HQs.
Question 3
How do I get to Lohis?
First things first, Lohis is the name of the pumping left hander that breaks directly out the front of Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort in the Maldives. To surf Lohis, you’ve got to book a stay at the resort as well as a Surfer Pass through World Surfaris.
Located on its own private island, Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort in the Male Atolls is a convenient 30-minute scenic speedboat ride from Male International Airport. You can fly into Male via most major connecting cities such as Singapore, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, or Colombo. Upon arrival at the Male International Airport, you will be greeted by a Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort representative and escorted via speedboat to the resort for check-in. If you’d prefer not to organise your travel itinerary and associated logistics, just leave it with us.
With 7 all-inclusive restaurants and bars, daily entertainment, an abundance of activities and excursions, beautiful scenery and of course the world-renowned Lohis Left, we suggest staying at Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort for between 7 and 14 nights before making your way home.
An exclusive to World Surfaris clients, you can enjoy a late 12pm check-out on your final day in paradise.
Question 4
Which accommodation type should I book at Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort?
On the island, you’ll find 3 main accommodation types at Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort – the Lohis Villas, the Beach Villas, and the luxurious Ocean Villas.
The Lohis Villas are conveniently located a few steps away from the Lohis Deck and Lohis Left paddle out point. Sleeping up to 3 guests, the Lohis Villas are the perfect budget-friendly option for surfers and a great way to fully immerse yourself in the surfing community at Lohis.
Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort’s Beach Villas are a level up from the Lohis Villas, featuring an outdoor bathroom, beachfront location and more living space. Beach Villas are perfect for surfers traveling with non-surfing friends, kids or a partner, with direct access to the resort’s lagoon and shaded sun loungers. For a special occasion, consider booking a Deluxe Beach Villa, or, if you’re traveling in a larger group, a Family Beach Villa which sleeps up to 6 guests.
Private and tranquil and located on the opposite side of the island to Lohis Left, Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort’s Ocean Villas are the epitome of luxury. Featuring direct and private access to the ocean, a large bathtub with exquisite views and a private butler for convenience, the Ocean Villas offer a once-in-a-lifetime experience for surfers.
All accommodation types at the resort include a mini bar restocked daily, a late 12pm check-out, all-inclusive dining and drinks, as well as a freshen up every morning. If you’re stuck on where to stay, World Surfaris can happily recommend an accommodation type that will make the most sense for your group and budget.
Don’t forget, if you’re a surfer wanting exclusive access to Lohis Left, you’ll need to book a Surfer Pass with World Surfaris regardless of your accommodation type. This will guarantee your allocation in the strict surfer limit on the island, and comes with a bunch of extra free inclusions too!

Question 5
What’s the Maldives like as a surf trip destination?
The Maldives is an idyllic surf region that offers consistent conditions all year round, and waves for every kind of surfer. With a wide range of surf charters and surf resorts in the Maldives, it’s become known as the ultimate family and couple friendly surf trip destination. Besides surfing, the Maldives boasts incredible island scenery, crystal clear water, abundant marine and coral life, mesmerising sunsets, and a balmy tropical climate.
Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort is conveniently located in the Male Atolls, not far from the Male International Airport. This region of the Maldives sees the best waves from May through to October, with the bigger swells generally popping up in June, July, and August. Some of the more globally recognised waves in the Male Atolls include Jailbreaks, Honkeys, Sultans, Ninjas, Cokes, Chickens and of course Lohis Left. Included in your World Surfaris Surfer Pass is access to a variety of these waves, with boat trips leaving Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort twice daily. Ninjas is across the channel from Lohis, and the other breaks are all within a 30-minute boat ride away.
Considered less hardcore and rustic than the likes of the Mentawai Islands, Banyaks or Nias, the Maldives is the perfect introduction to surf travel and a great option for surfers chasing a combination surf trip (a little more diversity than a classic surf, eat, sleep, repeat experience).
Question 6
How the hell do I pronounce Hudhuranfushi?
Believe it or not, this has got to be our most commonly (and awkwardly) asked question. So, here it is! Hudhuranfushi Surf Resort is pronounced who-dah-ran-foo-shi.

Our most-loved surf resort in the Maldives and rated #1 for surfers and non-surfers alike. Surf Lohis Left right out the front, and live it up with an all-inclusive experience.
