Relaxing, great accommodation ...
This was a great trip for general travel. We went as a group of 4 including 2 wives. This trip was ideal for that. The accommodation was extremely good including the food. The people were also highest quality. The location was great, and the cultural aspects great too. I would go back again, mainly for the relaxing time and pleasant location.
The surf on the other hand was not so great. This part of Sri Lanka only has about 4-5 viable breaks. They are crowded. When working well they would be equivalent to Noosa or Byron with similar crowds. We were lucky and found a secret point that we had to ourselves every day. Not great waves but enjoyable. (There are no surf guides at this property).
While at the beach house, the locals were very helpful and arranged trips to see wildlife and culture. This was a highlight.
The transfer from Colombo to Pottuvil Point (whilst only 330km) was 10 hours for us, including a stop for lunch and a visit to an Elephant Sanctuary.
(Consider Cinamon Air or staying overnight in Kandy or Nuwara Eliya enroute).
