The month of June was a classic high season month. Waves breaking all over the Mentawais with great conditions, although only a few solid swells hit the archipelago in June, the wave machine was definitely ON and did not disappoint the adventurous surfers who came to the islands seeking barrels.
In early June we welcomed aboard one of our favorite groups coming from Worldsurfaris, the Aussie boys from the Sunshine coast, in a trip to be more than just hanging with the friends, but a special tribute to their loved friend Tyler Kennedy, or “Mr Greenbush” as they liked to call him, who sadly passed away the year before.
As usual the trip target was Greenbush and we scored 4 beautiful days with one good swell and winds turning favorably South to the surf spot making it the perfect conditions. Hopefully Tyler was up there watching the boys trade barrel for barrel.
We also surfed Maccas and The Hole, two of our favorite lefts that produce deep barrels and amazing sessions.
The second half of the month, we could see the same consistency of swell with light winds all over the Mentawais. Every boat we crossed into had happy clients onboard with the conditions they found around the archipelago.
For early July we can see a good swell approaching and we expect another great month of barrels for us and our clients.
