As we are almost coming to an end of our surf season, October did still deliver some good swell at the beginning and end of the month. We had a couple of days with double overhead sets. It was not as big as the last few swells and we had a couple of unusual stormy days too. Nevertheless we had a really good camp of guests from all around the world sharing some really good waves together at Lohis and a few other breaks like Ninjas and Sultans too.
For the first time Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi is going to be running their surf operations all year round! From this year onwards we will not be shutting down our surf operations and will be working through the surf off-season as well. You can now book your surf holiday with an “off-season rate”. During the off-season waves can get inconsistent. You also do sometimes get bad currents with the easterly winds. However, the conditions are mostly amazing with no wind and 2-3 ft glassy lines throughout. We are promoting this period mostly for beginner to intermediate level surfers. However, it is also a great period for good surfers to get some uncrowded waves. It is a good period to come on a holiday with your family so that the non surfers can enjoy the good weather with clear visibility for snorkelling and diving while the surfers can enjoy a couple of medium sized glassy waves with pretty much no one in the surf.
We decided to keep the surf operation running during the off-season also because we just opened up our *new beginners surf school. We are looking forward to introduce surfing to a lot of non-surfer guests on the island. Always love to see the smile on a face of someone catching their first white-wash wave!
*All surf school programs run separately to the Lohis program and as surf pass is always required to surf at Lohis.
