Nias Surf Report – September 2017

It’s been a funky September by Nias standards but talking to a few people lately around the traps I have been assured that most of the Indian Ocean has been tricky all month.

September is usually the ideal time for Nias if you arent wanting to take on the bigger stuff. 3-4ft with the occassional bigger day is the norm but this year its been 2-3ft on average. Thats not to say we didnt have the odd bigger day, with super fun and rippable waves rolling through Lagundri all the way down to Sorake Beach, where KabuNohi sits not too far away.

Our deck is all but complete and guests have been enjoying morning surf checks and afternoon Bintangs by the sea with new and old friends taking in the sights as the sun goes down for another day.

Nias is paradise at this time of year. The bad storms start drying up and the waves are backlit by the glistening sunlight. KabuNohi Resort is starting to turn heads and many guests who have experienced the ‘breath of fresh air’ with the first upscale accommodation in Nias this year have rebooked for next year.
