April is typically a magical time to be in the Maldives. Sure, the waves aren’t their biggest or most consistent but everyday there’s a wave at least 3ft and if you get lucky you might get a couple of days in the 5-6ft range. The best thing about April though is the crowd factor.
North Male has developed a reputation for crowds but with the right timing, a guide who has “contacts” you can often score that epic session with just you and your mates in the water. Luckily for Maavahi guests, this is exactly what happened on several occasions throughout April with some standout sessions going down at Jails, Honkeys and Sultans.
Honkeys was the pick of the bunch though. Our stand in guide during week 2, Zante summed it up perfectly. “We surfed 3 hours on day 2 of our trip at perfect 3-4ft Honkeys, not another boat in sight and resort guests must have slept in that morning because they were nowhere to be seen”.
If you dont believe us, see for yourself, the proof is in the pudding!
