June 2019 – Hudhuranfushi Report.
Well that was a mixed bag – some of the best days of the season but some of the worst too!
June started with a really slow run of small swell and funky winds, it was still ok but not really what you’d expect for a mid season surf trip. By the 11th a substantial S/SE kicked in and we had some very good moments. Sultans in particular, was quite big and generally empty and our guests made the most of some big open walls and inside barrel sections. The swell seemed to hang around for ages with too many really good days to count, before it faded off for a couple more small days. The last week of June was really magic – a straight, long period South swell filled in and Lohis really turned on with plenty of barrels to be had. It was a bit lully and inconsistent but this gave the water plenty of time to drain back off the reef resulting in some exceptionally good quality surf (and some dry hair paddle outs!)
