500km of Southern Queensland coastline, incorporating the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, and a few lesser known areas and islands, produces some hot though at times inconsistent waves. But, over the years local crowds have increased to disconcerting proportions, especially at better quality breaks. Consequently, imaginations have drifted to the other 2000km of undisturbed potential of sheltered outer reefs.
But with tremendous potential comes obstacles. Isolation, distance, inaccessibility and knowing where to go as conditions change... has made exploration nonviable.
Like the image above the details of where, when and how have all been shrouded in mystery.
This is your chance to explore Queensland’s outer reefs with World Surfaris led by expert skipper Jody Perry. Jody is one of very few surfers in the world to have witnessed and experienced the wave potential in the Great Barrier Reef. After 12 years of commercial fishing, diving and surf exploration on the Great Barrier Reef, he knows where the breaks are and he knows the conditions required for each break.
