16 April 2016 Surf Report - The Green Room.
Late take off, eye the section, drive a high bottom turn and then pull in to everyone's favourite view - from the inside of a tropical tube! No wet suits, no cold walks to the beach, no frozen feet, no worries. Picture the aqua blue, 26 degree water surrounding you as you glide across the reef you're sharing with turtles and other diverse island marine life. This was last week at Aganoa Lodge Samoa.
We generally surfed the Aganoa break, as it provided the perfect setting for our enthusiastic guests to surf as they wished. Mum's, Dad's and the kids took full advantage of their doorstep waves whether it was a thick barrel section, smooth open face or friendly shoulder.
Turquoise tales aside, the blowholes roared to life below a building storm system as if it was creating the clouds. The ocean’s powerful mist added even more to the awe of the astounding natural phenomenon. A must see when you come to stay with us!
13 April 2016 Surf Report - Tropical Family Bliss.
This week started off with with some light on shore winds which kept the lodge nice and cool and perfect for blissful relaxation. But this tranquil weather didn’t stop us from scoring some uncrowded waves on the east side of the island at our secret spot, Pastor Point! With 2-3 ft waves rolling down the reef and both boys and girls ripping them to pieces, it was a phenomenal start to their trip.
As the week rolled on, Aganoa turned it on for them with 4-5 ft rights barreling onto the reef. From sun up through lunch our guests were going barrel for barrel with each other in the cool shade of some tropical storms that had moved in from the south, bringing pleasant rain and occasional rumbles of thunder.
We also managed to fit in a waterfall trip as the sun stuck its head out. We topped off the day with an afternoon of fun and games by the oceans edge.
