The middle of 2016 has been incredibly kind to us here at Aganoa Lodge in terms of weather and waves. We’ve hosted fun loving families, wave hungry surfers, laid back paddle boarders, barrel charging body boarders and everything in between. All have left with a smile on their face and some of the waves and experiences of their lives etched into their memories.
There is no shortage of SW swell during August at Aganoa Lodge as the ocean activity below us is at its peak, sometimes delivering long period swells all the way from Tasmania! It meets the reef on our doorstep with the sound and soul of the Pacific Ocean unloading its energy just a stones throw away from our pillows as we eagerly await sunrise. Coffee in one hand, a surfboard in the other, our guests watch the empty walls roll into the cove with a smug anticipation of the day that is about to unfold. The guys lucky enough to visit us this month lived these moments and enjoyed 4-6 ft waves on our house right and left handers, with those opting for a more relaxed approach cruising through the lagoon on the very friendly “Litlle Lefts”.
There was hardly reason to travel to other breaks on the island due to favourable conditions, but when we did we scored awesome A-frames at “Middles” and peaked through coconut trees to see untouched left handers at Coconut Grove. Although its technically considered the surfing season, we barely encountered other surfers around the island meaning we just shared the good times within our crew. Upon land, our guests were surrounded with Samoan culture and scenery with waterfalls and blowholes in-between the surf destinations around our island. We’ve been able to cater to all levels of surfers and their families which can be attributed to how special and diverse Samoa is not only in August but year round!
Thank you to the wonderful people that we could share our slice of paradise with this month. Aganoa Lodge - Samoa
