A Bintang Shortage in Sumbawa?

This month was a boomer!

The first BIG swell of the year hit Lakey Peak, Nunggas and Periscopes with 3x overhead sets coming through for the best part of 2 days. Surfers were scrambling for there step up boards and we even had to make some calls to the locals for some help in finding a few spares for the boys staying with us.

Those who werent into the big stuff OR couldnt find that step up headed to the protected beach breaks to avoid the carnage where im told they scored some real good ones!

We went from 3x overhead to a 5 day flat patch. The beauty of Lakey Peak Haven is that we have so many non-surfing activities available as well as a great restaurant and bar to kick your feet up and just relax. The downside to a flat spell is the consumption of alcohol increases and after 5 days a rumour started floating around that the Bintang supply had run so low there was fear that we would run out completely. Luckily for us the swell kicked into gear again and a new supply of Bintang trucks arrived to save the day. Crisis averted!

To go with the increase in swell, we also had really light winds which meant surfing all day!

Our guests for the month were amazing. We had a great crew of mainly Australians which fit in well with the months activities. We had the Keramas WSL comp playing on the big screen most days, the NRL coverage streaming when games were on over dinner and apre-surf and to top it all off, we had a great night watching the mighty Blues take out Origin 1 is the easiest of fashions!

Anyway, The Lakey Peak Haven dream continues…we look forward to seeing what June produces. The last 2 seasons June has been pumping from start to finish! So if you want great waves, awesome food and a comfortable affordable place to stay, check us out!
