A group of mates – stretched out across the east coast of Australia – have come together for their annual catch up and what better place than in the empty Savai’i staying at Aganoa Lodge Samoa.
The surf wasn’t stellar, but fun sessions were a daily occurrence.
The best sessions were at Pastor Point – a head-high north swell surf running across the flat reef in a pointbreak style, similar to Snapper Rocks.
We also scored some peaky goodness out the front at the lodge amongst a 2-3 ft south swell. This is the time of year for offerings to come from both hemispheres, and when you’re glad to be on an island!
Back to our epic crew of mates:
Standouts were Mike the farmer, who lives 200 km from the ocean but you wouldn’t be able to tell with how he was surfing.
The Dunlop brothers showed their skills in what has clearly been a friendly, lifelong sibling surf rivalry, resulting in some fine skills in the water.
Dobby, a knee surgeon, claimed longest ride, while Matt and George took the cake for charging.
Robbo and Doug were the performers of the group – showing their ability in the pocket.
The whole crew overall shall be awarded the G&T award, with gin and tonic being their preferred wind-down after a long day in the water.
A great way to catch up for the boys – who booked out the lodge to themselves – in what was a stellar week.
