Bali and East Info 2009 season wrap up!

Dear World Surfaris Home base,

bali 2005 020

BALI 2009 what a year!!!   Hotels have been fully booked from May this year and has only just started to quieten down. Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Canggu, and Balangan being the pick of the bunch (not to mention Keramas on the right winds).  As I was saying hotels were fully booked but with the amount of swell we had it didn’t get overly crowded…  maybe on the days when the swell backed off there was a few 2 many out at Uluwatu not to mention a few 2 many beginners, but considering the amount of surfers that came to Bali there was still plenty of unridden waves that went by and many uncrowded sessions had.  Bali was pumping with really good swells that kept on backing up one after the other it really was a surfer friendly year.

_L9U4851_E0I7200And not only bali with Lakey Peak and Scar reef serving up some real perfection throughout the year. With Mick Fanning, Occy, Bede, Oscar and Stephanie Gilmore blessing us with there presence in Bali earlier this year and scoring some super waves over in Sumbawa at Lakey Peak .  Everyone really enjoyed there company in and out of the water.  They gave the local Lakey Peak Boardriders Club great support raising funds to supply them with surfboards.  As there was nearly an all in brawl with the grommets from Lakeys trying to get there hands on Micks surfboards. The grommets were stoked to have all there hero’s all together at their own break…..it was magic.

_MG_2153Also on Sumbawa, Scar reef also had a super year from April to mid September. This wave is definitely for those who relish in left hand over head pits. The season ending off with a solid swell in late September and who happened to be there David Scard and Dylan Longbottom they booked there trip on the 9th September and were scoring solid DOUBLE over head + waves on the 13th September. Scardy followed this swell at least 2 weeks before it even started heading for Indo…he wasn’t going to miss it.

Desert Point_8351Lombok has once again proved to be a super destination for all standards of surfers with all guests soaking up the great beaches and the local cuisine as well as scoring some waves.  Desert Point has had some epic waves this year  with heaps of footage on U TUBE if you want to get a look.

BBT_7517Wayan on the Paus boat actually said that the conditions this  year were the best he had experienced for at least 5 years. With loads of waves heaps of fish and great people to enjoy them with.

BALI – EAST SIDE on the roll……………. (NATURAL FOOTERS its time to play)

I am happy to say that the best season in Bali has arrived. (it is now the land of right handers) with right hand waves all over the east coast from Nusa Dua to Sanur.  Keramas, Bali Hyatt, Geger Beach are ON. We currently have a bit of swell around with super fun 3 to 4 footers… with a slightly bigger swell expected for tomorrow.   And as I mentioned hotels are back to 50% occupancy therefore that means less surfers and yes it is proven.  I have surfed keramas twice last week with only 5 other surfers in the water and then Tantu with 1 other surfer on Thursday. Me and our surfguides love this time of the year as we are based in Sanur. We have options to loads of surfbreaks north and south. So for those who think the surf in Bali has finished till next year, we are just getting started with 12 righthanders within 30 minutes of Sanur. Also Nusa Dua only 40 minutes drive south there is a whole lot more of course mostly RIGHT HANDERS.  All standards of surfers can enjoy what East side has to offer.  CONDITIONS: OCTOBER till APRIL.  IF you have never been in Bali during this season, definitely book you will be surfrised.

Thanks guys what a super year hope you can get up here soon…   would love to share some of it with you.
