Hi all,

October is almost upon us. 4 more days and the Summer season kicks off there’s some small activity in the northern pacific already as if its waiting and getting ready to send the first small ripples down south to the north facing breaks of Carolines, PNG, Samoa and Tonga. Summer spots are still pretty open if anyone is keen to escape their locals dismal offerings. If not hopefully these pics will put in good stead and see you through until the next swell arrives.

Enjoy WS:)

Read on for full report……..

Monday 10th to Sunday 16th of January

Monday The south coast was really small but exceptionally clean and so the crew headed out to hunt some waves at Outside Siumu but ended up fishing more than surfing catching a nice Wahoo, 2 Trevally, and a Striped Tuna.

Tuesday With the south coast waist high and really clean it meant the north had some head high wind swell in very windy conditions. No surfing guest today.

Wednesday The crew surfed at Resorts and Robbo’s out the front which was producing some waist high waves in very clean conditions. North Coast had a small northeast wind swell

Thursday Guests surfed Resorts again this morning which produced chest to occasional head high fun surf with peaky fun waves in light on shore wind. North was small and windy

Friday The crew headed North in the early am to hunt some fun waves and discovered very nice conditions at heaps of breaks with no one around……..funnn.

Saturday With a new south swell showing the crew headed to Pebbles for some first day of the swell action producing head high plus sets, with a heavy Guillotine section with the off shore westerly winds.

Sunday The swell had picked up from the south and with SW wind guests headed to Special K and found epic conditions. Clean glassy with light offshores hitting slightly overhead sets and making for a great surf session with only 6 guys out! Awesome!!

Hi All,

The latest has come in from Sa’Moana resort and it is again cranking and awesome! When going through previous entries its pretty much the status quo for Samoa. If you want consistency then have a look through the entries and send out an enquiry. With a new summer package available at a great price Sa’Moana is cooking – Don’t Miss out!

Monday 15th of November to Sunday 21st of November

Monday When our new influx of surfing guests arrived today they hit Pebbles for a late arvo session finding clean shoulder high bowls running into the Guillotine section offering up the occasional makeable and very enjoyable barrel.

Tuesday With a small swell and stormy conditions the crew headed to north side for an exploratory mission but ended up heading to the sea caves to enjoy some of the magic on land that Samoa has to offer when the surf is just not happening, luckily a rare occasion.

Wednesday The was a small increase in swell so the crew was waiting for the high tide in the afternoon to hit Pebbles. Again they found head high fun walls with the ever barreling Guillotine section doin its thing

Thursday A new north swell had hit so they headed over to Dragon’s Breath to find overhead heaving A frames with super fast sections and occasional bomb set sent down from the North Pacific. They then we headed back to the south to score Special K and Pebbles with head high and really fun waves to ease the morning jitters BD’s is definite challenge and not for the faint hearted.

Friday The crew headed to Salani Right for overhead wedging peaking sections creating challenging take offs and fast rides

Saturday Outside Siumu lefts were perfect and slightly overhead with really fun carvable walls offering everyone in the group a ton of fun quality waves. When they got back to the resort the crew headed out for another session out front at Resorts for some really fun lefts to finish off the day.

Sunday The gang surfed Resorts again this morning, as the swell had backed off a bit, and it was still offering up some slightly overhead fun clean waves nice Samoan waves. Vailima time later.

Monday 4th to Sunday 10th of October

Monday The week started with a strong E swell with hard NW winds so they headed on the All Zone to The Wild East to score some classic waves all by themselves. First hit was a right hander called Chewy’s at double overhead and caught it unreal! Offshore winds spitting barrels and racing walls amongst scenic beauty, then off to a long left just a short drive away called Boomers and it was again unreal, absolutely firing and no one but us our 4 guys! This is the All Zone experience!

Tuesday With the stories of the previous day told to the guests who did not go that day the rest wanted to grab some for themselves to so they headed back out to Chewy’s for a little smaller size but same clean offshore conditions and the boys were stoked! The evening called for a late arvo surf at Resorts as a new south west swell showed signs.

Wednesday With the new swell pounding the reef all night they awoke to find bombs breaking in front of the resort and our two new guests frothing to get out on a smaller right to start off with so they headed out to Special K to score 1-2 foot overhead clean bowls and great start to their holiday and for one his first wave since July and his first wave in Samoa was a barrel straight out the gate! So stoked with the morning session the boys wanted more from Special K so they headed out again for the arvo and got it a little bigger and clean with amazing light at sunset.

Thursday With a large south swell the crew headed to the Wild East to find some more playful right hand waves and they scored at White Tips with some slightly overhead sets running down the reef creating some fun waves out of the large swell. A rain squall came through at first and then cleaned it all up as the sun shone down, another beautiful surf session at Sa’Moana.

Friday The swell had dropped a little but still had some large sets every so often so they went to Salani right and scored 2-3ft overhead waves with an occasional larger set rumbling through to keep heads on straight while having a ball on the fun barreling bowls. Headed back to the resort for lunch and a bit of a rest, before going to Wakas for the late arvo session. Scored it for one and ½ hrs with no one else, with some 1 foot overhead sets coming in constant. Fun fun fun!

Saturday With a smaller S swell Pebbles was the go for a change of pace and found it head high, no wind, no crowd, with a gaping makeable Guillotine section creating some great drops and a few spitting barrels for the boys to share.

Sunday Surfed out front at Resort’s in the morning producing 30 meter long head high walling lefts straight out front of the restaurant making a nice end to a exciting and varied surfing week.

Hi all,

This just in from Sa’Moana resort and yet again they’ve scored some great waves read on ……

Monday 5th of July to Sunday 11th of July

Monday An All Zone trip was called the start of the new week with a new solid SW swell greeting the crew in the morning. They headed to the South East Zone catching Rusty’s breaking from head high on the inside section to well overhead on the outside section and linking through on a few of the bigger sets. With the incoming tide and increase in swell the group was wanting some smaller playful waves, so the call was to finish the day off at Wakas with offshore head high walls of fun.

Tuesday The new swell had dropped a bit and a rare south west wind came up so the crew headed to Coco’s for a few end section wraps and mixed peaks to entertain the group. Then they headed on to Special K for some really fun slightly overhead fun right handers with the incoming tidal pulse.

Wednesday The south swell bumped up again and the crew was wanting some more of the fun walls of Wakas so they got it. This time it was slightly overhead and very good conditions producing some really fun rides for everyone in the group. The All Zone group headed to Rusty’s rights for a few overhead bowls before the wind came up and finished off with solid overhead and offshore Devils Island Lefts.

Thursday The guests were happy with Wakas so they headed back again. The trade winds had come in making the takeoffs side shore but the inside section offshore. Not as good as the day before but always worth the water time.

Friday With the swell dropping again the call was to head to Pebbles for some clean offshore faces and barreling Guillotine sections. Some great drops and barrels were had with a mixed group of surfers staying on island but plenty of waves for everyone.

Saturday South swell again and the crew had a casual day with families on kayak trips and snorkeling around the resort and a short afternoon surf at Village Lefts for the easy walk option.

Sunday A very solid SSW swell picked up over night and the lads headed to Boulders on the zodiac with only one guest and scored it to themselves(2 surfers) with solid overhead to double overhead sets super clean and really racey with the direction. Was a great end to a holiday well earned by our guest, Rex! Cheers mate!

Hi All,

Surf travel, for all its energy and pace, is just like any other type of travel. That is to say that it has a social responsibility to the destination. World Surfaris long ago realised that in order to offer any true sense of sustainability to our destinations, respect would be the minimum we could offer when we arrive. It logically fits in with the mentality of surf travel as well. We believe that travel is truly a mind opening, awe inspiring experience that tends to give you an emotional uppercut and self realisation for what we take for granted in modern society. Forming a bond and showing genuine interest & respect for the indigenous of the destination is a fantastic privilege that fortunate surfers can experience by visiting remote destinations that don’t tend to be on the mainstream tourist trail.

So when this e-mail came in from a client recently returned from Sa’Moana Resort we thought it best to share it with you and offer our thanks alongside Adam’s to Trudie at Virgin Blue who ever so slightly bent the rules to help bring some smiles and a bit of fun to the local children in Samoa.

From: Adam Martin
Subject: Thank you

Trudie,

I am back from my trip to Samoa and wanted to personally thank you for the allowance of extra baggage.

Please find attached a couple of pictures of Samoan locals being given kids clothes, footballs, and rugby shirts and jerseys that were only made possible by you giving me an excess baggage allowance for these items. As you may be aware, on 30 September 2009 Samoa was hit by a tsunami which killed almost 200 people and displaced thousands.

Your kind gesture allowed me to give out kids clothes, rugby shirts and jerseys and about 25 footballs (as you would be aware rugby is their National sport, which all Samoans love). The locals were all very excited and very grateful.

Thanks again,

Adam Martin

Monday- High tide @ 8:30am. An early morning surf at Resorts was a great way to start the day. Sa’Moana guests scored glassy head high and a half peaks, with plenty of nice turns put down by surfers of varying abilities

Tuesday. High tide @ 9:10am. Today a boat trip to Wakas was the call. All the crew had a ball in the shoulder high rippable left handers. The sun was shining and the water was crystal clear. After hours in the surf a great fish on the way home had the boys stoked.

Wednesday. High tide @ 10:00am. A dawny surf to a rarely surfed north coast break was a great call. The hollow spitting head and a half high rights and lefts provided great shade from the beaming sun as it rose over the milky clean horizon. Plenty of pits in the morning followed by an afternoon surf a short drive away into a sheltered bay made for a huge day of great waves!

Thursday. High Tide @ 11:00am. Another early morning rise for the boys as the swell was still cranking. The call was to a spectacular jungle lined bay (one of our favourites). Another day of grinding hollow barrels had everyone stoked. The Peak at head and a half high was great for those who were keen for some long heavy barrels while others enjoyed wedging runners at The River Mouth.

Friday. High Tide @ 12:00pm. Returning to the same area as yesterday the swell had dropped a little but was still a rippable head high and great fun in the warm sunny conditions. While the boys had great waves their partners enjoyed relaxing in the amazing scenery.

Saturday. High Tide @ 1:00pm. A great fun day of surfing peeling Resorts. There were lefts and rights very where on the rising south west swell, great for turns with good wackable sections.

Sunday. High Tide @ 2:00pm. More rippable waves out the front at resorts today followed by a few casual drinks on the deck was a great way to finish the week.

Monday. High tide @ 10:00am. With a solid south swell running the crew in the water enjoyed the powerful A-frames at Resorts. At around head high and half sets, with a bit of a lump, it was challenging and great for some big turns!

Tuesday. High tide @ 11am. With more beautiful sunshine, a day relaxing by the pool and casual surfs with no one else out at Resorts made for a great day! Everyone was stoked.

Wednesday. High tide @ 12pm. A midday session at Resorts saw some big airs and carving turns in the solid overhead conditions with a light onshore! The crystal clear water, fish swimming beneath and lunch waiting on the deck just added to the experience!

Thursday. High Tide @ 12:50pm. The boat trip down to Pebbles today gave everyone time to everyone to really enjoy the beauty of Samoa! While some guests scuba dived on the steep reef drop off others were getting barreled above! The head high surf and offshore winds made for some great pits in the crystal clear water on Christmas Eve! Before back at Sa’Moana the local youth group walked the village dressed in white singing Christmas wishes to all!

Friday. High Tide @ 1:45pm. A huge Christmas feast had Sa’Moana rocking today! The smorgasbord of food had everyone ready to pop when suddenly Santa appeared getting towed by our jet ski, a sack of goodies in hand as well! The kids couldn’t believe that Santa could surf, everyone was stoked and the festivities carried on well into the evening!

Saturday. High Tide @ 2:30pm. After a great week, the crew decided to relax and catch up on some badly needed rest today; taking in the sights, a kayak through the lagoon and snorkel over the great coral garden straight in front of the resort!

Sunday. High Tide @ 3:15pm. An afternoon session saw some fun shoulder high waves at Pebbles in the offshore winds! As always there were barrels to be had on the inside section while some of the crew enjoyed some rippable walls on the outside section! A stop in at Piglets on the way home for the beginner surfers was a great way to end the day and had everyone over the moon!
