Pohnpei Surf Report no.1

Hi All,

Let us firstly confirm the rumors – Yes its true! Amy  Kotch is onboard at Pohnpei Surf Club for the 2011-2012 Season.  So in case the world’s best right (plus more waves), great food, friendly people and awesome fishing wasn’t getting you over the line then perhaps the outstanding service of our favorite guide will be.

The Pohnpei Report.

This was going to be the P-Pass report…. When a wave captures the imagination as seductively as Palikir Pass, it is easy to ignore the possibility that other waves exist, that anything else exists…but in the week that we have been on this enchanted island we’ve surfed fun 3-4ft, rights and lefts, we’ve snorkled over pristine reef, caught (well, Allois caught) a 35 kg GT, (he also hooked, played and then lost a massive Marlin), we hiked to the top of historic Sokehs rock, and we’ve met some of the friendliest people I’ve ever known….

The swell has been small so we have been surfing a couple of the less well-known spots that pick up any available swell. We arrive to an empty line up, surf, snorkel, snack, chill out on the boat, surf again, snorkel again then leave the line up as we found it and cruise back to PSC for a cold beer and a seafood feast cooked up by ‘chef supreme’ Malico.

We are going to be here for the season… hopefully we will see you soon!
