Maldives Swell report Numero 4

Hi All,
Rich and Amy, the dynamite duo surf guides at Hudhuranfushi Resort Maldives have sent through the latest. The Maldives had a bit of a hot and cold May but June looks like a fine retrun to form.

I know that just about everyone in the surfing world has their attention firmly fixed on Fiji right now, but if 10ft walls of pacific ocean detonating on shallow reef are not really your cup of tea, the Maldives have been offering up some slightly more forgiving options over the last two weeks.
After a terrible week at the end of May it was good to start June on a high note; we have enjoyed decent waves every day, peaking over the weekend with some world class waves at Cokes. World Surfaris /Handu Fali guide, and all round charger Andy Schwartz put on a solid display of committed barrel riding and coaxed a few guests into the barrel of their lives!
Weather-wise, it has been ever changing with powerful W/NW squalls hitting most days. I like this time of year. I enjoy the drama as a squall hits and the intensity as the rain pelts down, emptying the lineup. I love the strong offshore winds that flare the barrels open, the glass off that follows and just when you were starting to feel a chill, the return of the sun.
Hi Richard, what’s up? Great to see that Maldives is having another great year. I’m pretty glad to share that once again I’m returning to Lohi’s in August, and again with my wife Marcia and the 2 daughters! So, everybody is happy! Hope to get some Cokes firing and hopefullly some shots. Hope you and the Lohi’s staff are fine. See you soon!

Great fun,had a couple of real fun days at Sultans and a great session at Jails the same afternoon…Richard and Amy are great hosts and inspire me to stretch more!!!!
Great photos Richard!! We had a mighty time at The Maldives and a few of us feature in the photos – unfortunately MB missed out – must be killing him!! We spent 7 days on the Handhu Fahli then 5 at Lohi’s resort. The session at Jails was my favourite, but every day we got quality waves at Lohi’s! Can’t say enough about the crew on the Handhu Fahli ensuring we had a crackin’ time despite the inconsistent swell the first week (cheers Andy!). Quality nudie boat jumps happened at night but a few of the boys chose to remain in the Ladies Lounge! The Lohi’s resort was all-time and a fine way to finish our trip – surf, eat, surf, massage, surf, beer, disco, beer, karaoke…you get my drift – FUNTIME! Will definitely be back! Cheers Chris
