Kan do Kandooma

Kandooma Resort Sea View Overwater Villas.jpg (6)

Hi all,

You may have noticed another epic blog title; we are trying to keep the iambic pentameter up there with Dr Seuss there are a lot of products to go through so the bets are on to see how long we can keep it up.

Yep! You guessed it another info blog on another great Resort. Keeping on track we are still in the sunny, beautiful Maldives! Skipping south a bit from Hudhuranfushi resort you’ll stumble upon another Jewel in the Maldivian crown – Kandooma Resort.

In a Nutshell: Kandooma offers perfect couples retreat and is great for families. We’d recommend Kandooma for the surfer willing to sacrifice the regular and consistent waves of the North Male atolls surf for a few extra creature comforts. The right hander out front is not as consistent as other breaks in the region but when it’s on there’s nowhere better to be especially if you are a natural footer. Kandooma is a 5 star Island paradise. Stylish beachy decor with whitewashed timber floors, state of the art beds and your choice of pillows (hard or soft), fresh oranges with orange press and quality tea and coffee. Dock your ipod on their stereo with your favourite tunes whilst you sit on deck overlooking the surf or lagoon. Your nationalities morning news delivered to you each day as you wake. Five star without the pretentiousness or obscene price tag. Great dinning, great facilities and great accommodation. If you’re combining the annual surf trip with something romantic or the family get a way then Kandooma is the X on your map.

Where: Kandooma Resort is located about 30 km south of the Maldivian capital of Male and turns on for any SE swell

When: We recommend travel to Kandooma from April to October with Jun/Jul/Aug being the better months for swell conditions

Who: We recommend Kandooma for surfers who are not 100% focussed on a full on surf trip.  If you are looking for an amazing resort at affordable prices for a family or romantic holiday with a few quality waves thrown in then Kandooma should tick the boxes.

Why: Why Not? Seriously Kandooma has it all so much that we can’t keep it contained in one blog. For more info or just to see what a Kandooma trip includes – Click Here

The Breaks:

Whilst not nearly as consistent as the more popular North Male atoll, there are still some incredible waves accessible from Kandooma Resort if the swell direction is SSE or SE and over 4ft.

Kandooma Right is a fast hollow right directly out front of the resort within an easy paddle and across the pass is Foxys and Riptides that can pick up a little more swell than Kandooma.

Within 20 mins boat ride you have access to another 4 breaks that World Surfaris charters guests have been surfing for many years and still frequent when conditions are right.  One of these waves, Tucky Joes left is regarded by many as one of the best lefts in the Maldives and on its day throws out some incredible barrels.

Enjoy the pics, Cheers WS

  1. Thanks, really looking forward to sun, warm water and nice play waves.

  2. Hi Owen,
The season has kicked off to a great start. We’ll be posting info from our Hudhu’s guides soon. Kandooma doesn’t get as much swell as the North Male atoll but we’re sure you’ll get some fun waves and have a great time. Kandooma is an awesome resort.
    Hope this helps
    Cheers
    WS

  3. Hi, we’re due to arrive at Kandooma on Saturday 19/5 on a WS trip and we’re interested to know how the early season swell is shaping up?

    Cheers
