The massive swell to slam the Sumatran island chain last week saw some of the worlds best surfers undertake an assault style surf mission to RESORT LATITUDE ZERO.

Taj Burrow and Luke Steadman couldn’t believe there eyes , less than half an hour after landing at the airport they were straight into it , square slightly raw slabs were served up under stormy skies to get the ball rolling. As the swell continued to build and the clouds parted, some true indo perfection was experienced with awesome 6ft tubes going down on a golden afternoon session, topped off with a couple of cocktails in the pool before dinner, the boys were definitely satisfied there gamble on huey producing the goods had paid off.
The following morning after a leisurely sleep in , it was back to the slabbing right for some more quality overhead tube time followed by an afternoon at one of our favorite, long, right hand point breaks. With the swell still grunting and the boys on fire it was always going to be an impressive display of state of the art surfing well into the early evening.

Day three was the last day of this short swell assault so it was up early and off on another adventure to a new destination in our 10m speed boat “ZERO TWO”. With the ocean conditions cleaning right up over night, it was finally a chance to sample some of the great lefts in the area and once again we were not disappointed, the guys surfing one of the more challenging waves with finesse and grace that make the rest of us green with envy. The final session after lunch goes down as a super punt fest at the racy right hander, before meeting up with our charter vessel “NOMAD” which was standing by for the evening cruise home across the straight

Looking forward after an exciting few days, a slow fall in wave size predicted over the next few days, giving us the opportunity to surf the more exposed waves in the area. Heuy then unleashes yet another good looking swell on us after the weekend from the south. Opening up a whole different range of surfing options for the coming week…w
