Matanivusi is located on the Coral Coast and is within close proximity to some of Fiji’s best kept "secret surf spots".After a two hour transfer from Nadi airport, the seclusion and indulgence begins. Accommodation
Matanivusi bures are classified as deluxe, and for good reason!All accommodation is beachfront and the bures have been designed by an award-winning Australian architect to achieve the integration of the natural landscape with the living area. Extensive use of glass panels are a feature to allow maximum views of the beach and rainforest. There is no need for air conditioning as louvre windows capture the cool seas breezes and ceiling fans are used to circulate the air. The bures are tucked between a creek at the rear of the building and coconut palms, exotic flowers and plants at the front, then the beach. If you are there at the right time you will be able to pluck a ripe paw paw from the tree near your bure. A large variety of fruit trees are scattered around the resort.The bures are duplex style with two rooms adjoining (ideal for two couples or a family). Each room is tastefully furnished with a king size bed (or two king singles), mosquito net for that tropical feel, ensuite bathroom, a coffee table and relaxing chairs. All rooms are screened. The large deck and vast expanses of glass gives each unit breathtaking views of the beach and rainforest, even from the toilet!

Meals
Matanivusi has employed a chef who will whip up three gourmet meals a day (dinner includes three courses), a real mix of fresh fusion food which will satisfy everyone’s tastebuds. If you don’t feel like just lazing around you can grab a kayak and head out onto the lagoon or organise a fishing or snorkelling trip on the beautiful reefs of Fiji. Experience the Fijian culture of Vunaniu Village located near the resort for a more personal Fijian experience. Night activitiesIf you have a little steam left in your tank after surfing all day, happy hour drinks and appetizers are served while the sun goes down followed by a three course dining experience. Surfing
Included in a surfer package is a daily surf transfer (two transfers if tides permit) to uncrowded breaks located only a short boat ride from Matanivusi Surf Resort. There is also the option to head out to Frigates Pass, a world-class left hander which is located 20 km offshore. Why eco?
The owners and developers, Brian and Donna McDonald, found this amazing piece of coastline some six years ago. Sitting around the kava bowl with Vunaniu village elders, they mentioned it would be a great place for a surf resort. There were two good right hand breaks on the reef fringing the turquoise waters of the lagoon. The natural forest to the white sandy beach line, the creek and the untouched beauty indicated that a responsible development philosophy was needed.The resort has been planned as an eco-resort, the principles being to make as little impact as possible during construction, implement best sustainable operating practices and integration with the local Fijian villagers.Minimal clearing was done to allow for the main building and the six bures, Sited just metres from the sandy beach, the buildings are a metre above ground level. Using post and beam construction there has been minimal disturbance to the area. The native vegetation along the beachfront has been maintained and new plantings will protect the beach from any erosion and rising storm surges. There is also a natural rock platform that acts as a buffer to trap the sand on the beach.Water conservation. The resort collects rainwater in tanks for use throughout. Recycling programs ensure that all waste is sorted and disposed of through commercial contractors.Educational programs for the local primary and secondary schools.
