Subject: Maldives Holiday
Hi to all at World Surfaris,
I have just returned from Hudhuranfushi Resort and would like to congratulate you all on selecting a great destination for a holiday.
Everything from the time we boarded our flight, our boat trip in the dark and arrival on the island was wonderful. Our stay was trouble free and my room was the best. 102 was close to everything and we easily found the walk through to the big holes for snorkling (have you seen them?) Every afternoon I filmed the surfing from Lohi's deck and watched the sunset. Staff always on hand if I needed a cup of tea, coffee or drink. I felt very spoilt. I only had time for one Massage at the Coconut Spa and I highly recommend it.
I had a morning trip on the surf boat and Moosa took great care of myself and my granddaughter. We snorkelled and watched the surfing and enjoyed it immensely. The food at the Resort was great and I had a couple of soup meals as there were just too many temptations. The people are friendly, gentle and just good people always a smile. I even loved the other surfers, I have invited a couple from
Our departure was as smooth as our arrival and I am going back if my family will take me. Many thanks, Kay Pulbrook

Subject: Hudhuranfushi Resort - feedback
Hi Wendy ,
I would like to thank you and the team at Worldsurfaris for organising an incredible holiday for us. In particular Brett found the surf guides Richard and Amy where outstanding, from the moment we arrived they were extremely welcoming, helpful, just genuinely lovely people nothing was to much trouble, a real credit to you company. Brett found the guidance and knowledge whilst in the surf with them fantastic. I must say that although they seem to have dream jobs it must get a bit much being on call and so friendly 7 days a week dealing with all types but they do it !!!!
The resort was amazing and we had a great room, - Love the outdoor shower and the fact the beach was 2 seconds walk from the room to - paradise !!!!
The service was always very friendly especially in the restaurant, the gardeners, cleaners.
I had a great time snorkelling most days, especially at the end of the main pier we saw reef sharks, manta ray, a huge turtle and lots of beautiful, beautiful fish !!!
The food was good and lots of variety, the beer was OK as I am not usually being a beer drink it bloats you up a bit, it would be great if the girls as part of the package could have another alcohol option. Of course I did have a cocktail each night that went down extremely well.
We both had a massage which was good the view was lovely from the massage room.
We met lots of lovely people who also booked with worldsurfaris . We got to sit with Karen and Mark in the restaurant each day so therefore we have become good friends. Also Glenn and his wife (cant think) who is in the video attached surfing at Lohis!!!
I loved sitting at Lohis and watching the surf you got to chat to lots of lovely people – mostly surf widows !! It would be great if the arm band for drinks worked at that bar.
Also the beach bar was great, nothing like sitting back watching the sun set.
Anyway back to work now and looking forward to saving and organising another holiday for next year, would highly recommend you company and also the resort !!!
Once again thanks

Subject: RE: Maldvies trip was amazing, thanks for everything
Dear Tomo
Here is my feedback.
This is very long and probably hard to read (English writing is not my specialty I guess).
1. Sri Lankai Air.
The flight was a delight; they use brand new airbus 340 instead of old Boeing. Personnel from Sri Lanka Air were smiling all the time and the food was good. I would recommend
2. At our arrival at Hudurhanfushi:
When we arrived at Male it was easy to find the Hudurhanfushi booth because of the numerous surfers heading to the same direction.
The speed boat was fast and pleasant.
Even though we arrived late, we were able to see numerous fish in the water and we were just starting to realize the paradise surrounding us.
3. The room
The room was a lot more than I expected, it is huge, and there is plenty of space. My wife brought a yoga mat so she was happy to have some space to practice.
The bathroom was a pleasant surprise. The half shower on the outside and half bath room in the inside is soooo nice feature. I can understand that having a toilet outside might be a problem with some people but honestly who cares?
I remember the long shower after the session watching the bat flying on the cloudless sky unlighted by the moon. Also in the morning since I was waking up at 5h for the first surf at Lohis it was great to check the sun rising was I was preparing myself. You can take two showers at the same time so there is no fight between couple when you come back from snorkeling :D.
4. The restaurant.
The next morning we discovered the restaurant.
I was astonished by the amount of choice and variety.
English style breakfast, many kind of cereals, fruits of all kind, bread, croissants etc.
And the delicious omelet prepared according to your wish. The lunch and dinner were amazing and the dessert table was impossible to avoid!
After the first day I was happy but I was thinking it would be the same every day … it wasn’t the case. We had every day several new things and also one night we had Maldivian plates and everything was delicious. I read in some reviews at Trip Advisor bad comments about the food and I can’t disagree more (and I am French I live for good food).
5. World Surfaris
It was represented by Richard. He immediately welcomed us when we arrive.
Everything was well explained to us he answered our question the best he can and we felt his warmness and friendly feeling from the beginning. I want to highlight the fact that he understood immediately that Kazu and two other Japanese customers weren’t able to communicate in English.
So Richard immediately used me (and my wife when on the island) to translate everything to them.
What I am trying to say is that instead leaving them behind he immediately try to find a way to communicate to proper information. Also many time in the water I saw that he had a nice comment in English for them or he was trying to check if everything is alright even though he can’t speak Japanese. So he is not the kind of guy who think everybody should talk American, he understands that it’s difficult for some people to talk English.
Except that, Richard has been very efficient at grouping World Surfaris members and pushing regular Hudurhanfshi customers in another boat. As a result, the atmosphere was great, Australians, French, Portugues, Brazilian (the ones who don’t always stay in their group), Japanese, everyone got to know each other. Everybody could get his share of wave and very often I saw many guys giving the priority to other guys.
Richard has ALWAYS proposed the guy next to him to drop him on his wave. And I saw him many time giving good advice (to me as well) about where to be in the wave etc. He talks with the good surfers and with the beginner as well. Thanks to him I got a nice barrel at Cokes since he explained that I had to hurry at the first section in order to prepare myself for the second one which is easier to barrel.
Well, you understood, he is more than a great surfer, he is a great guy. Everybody though so: he is a great asset for World Surfari.
6. The island in itself.
And the sea life is the best I have ever seen. I saw dolphins every morning at lohis behind the line up. I was visited by 2 manta ray, flying fishes and many coral sharks. I love coral sharks, they are beautiful animals full of grace. Also my conversation with another surfer was interrupted by a big sea turtle just looking for fresh air before another dive. And the amount of fishes you can see is incredible. I usually suck at fishing but I got a barracuda after three minutes trying with just a piece of dead fish and a line!
7. The Surf.
The last day…wow…what can I say? i woke up at 5h, went to lohis. I was alone and in the water I saw the first over 6 feets set of my trip. I couldn’t smile more. A French friend came and join me and we enjoyed one hour alone before the brazilian community woke up :P. It was fantastic. Riding lohis at 6 feets is a real experience. The wave is so fast but when you get the good one it’s just like an unstoppable train. No need to paddle, you follow the wall!!!
In this morning we went in Sultan. The current was very strong and by three time I had to ask a boat to send me back to the waves (I hate to leave a beautiful glassy wave even if it’s for my safety). Still, it was so nice to see the spot with some size. Even watching was a pleasure, especially Richard who was showing the way it’s supposed to be surf. Still I could get 2 set wave with my bodyboards and when I remember the view I had following these walls I can’t stop smiling.
Even though my speed boat was planned to 7h30 I went to surf in the afternoon. It wasn’t so big but stil we had good ones. The atmosphere was sooo good. At then end, everyone went near the swimming pool drink a last bintang before I left. I took pictures in the water of other surfers so it helped to make good friendship (I love their smile when I say I have a good picture of you riding!).
Hudurhanfushi is place special for me. I surfed in
Yes there is no doubt Kazu and me are going back next year!
Voila,
Julien

Subject: What a trip!
Hi Alinda
Back in the office today after a cracking trip to the Maldives, and depression is setting in! We scored great surf all week - timing was good because apparently it had been windy and poor surf the week before. We surfed Lohi's, Sultans and Jails (my favourite) ranging from chest high to overhead.
Just thought I would provide some feedback, and ask a small favour.
Jeff - Surf Guide
- Jeff Sikland is a deadset legend. He was so helpful to our group and had answers and advice whenever we needed some. He also came out for a few surfs with us and was really good value. You have got a great Surf Guide in him and I hope he will still be there when we get to head back there in the future. His ability to manage a diverse range of guests was very impressive; nothing was too much and he made sure the World Surfaris guests got on the boats etc.......and he was just an allround nice guy.
If he ever resigns from the job I would love to apply for it!!!!!!
Resort
- The resort is what I expected for an island in a country as remote as the Maldives. Everything is clean and of a good standard.
- The package with the inclusive food and drink was great. Surfing at least a couple of times every day, we never went hungry or thirsty........and beers in the pool after a surf was very easy to get use to.
- The restaurant with the open plan was nice particularly with a bit of a breeze coming through. Having the same table all the time helped; one less thing to think about.
- The staff were also very helpful.
In addition, my wife had a great time as a non-surfer. She came out on the surf boats a couple of times with some other non-surfer partners that we met at the resort.
One suggestion I would make is, when we were leaving I would have loved to have been able to purchase a t-shirt or something to take home, but there was only one "surfing" related t-shirt in the gift shop, and it was pretty ordinary. The majority of souvenirs were diving related. Maybe World Surfaris could look at having some made up to sell there.
Crowds
Whilst we struck a few boats at Sultans and Jails, we never struggled for waves. Coming from Dee Why in Sydney, I call anything under 20 "uncrowded". With Jails having 3 peaks people were spread out and we got our fix of waves! We managed to surf Lohi's with about 7 of us out one morning, it was magic!
We have set ourselves a goal of heading back in 2 years time for at least 10 days, maybe 14. I think our next travel group will be larger, our friends that didn't come are very jealous!
Alinda, I want to thank you again for all your help, you have been of great assistance, and I look forward to dealing with you in the future.
Kind regards,
Robert Wright CFP

Subject: Thanks for everything
G'day Alinda,
We are back and are slowly watching the Tan fade. Thanks for everything to get us to the Maldives, everything was perfect and the resort far exceeded our expectations.
The room was great. Large with our own deck and lounges which were not going to be claimed by others first thing in the morning. We basically had our own private part of the beach. The individual service, people, quality of food and drinks included in our package was fantiastic. You just need to watch the house wines, but that is nothing a couple of cocktails could not fix.
The resort as a whole is fantatsic for us. Enough luxury, privacy and freedom for us to kick back and enjoy our honeymoon, but we still had waves, snorkelling and wind surfing when we felt like doing something active as we do not sit still very well.
The surf pass which was included in our package also allowed us to relax a bit more. As it was all included you did not have to worry if you missed a trip which you may have paid for as there was always another boat leaving soon, or you could just go out at Lohi's.
Thanks again, a fantastic Honeymoon.

Subject: THE BEST HONEYMOON!!!
Hi Wendy,
Just a quick email to let you know that Steve and I had the most wonderful Honeymoon at Lohifushi's Resort Maldives.
Everything was perfect, from the flights, boat trips, accommodation, to the meals and facilities, thanks for organising it.
It is the most beautiful place we have ever been and Steve got some fantastic waves, while I layed on the beach and worked on the tan.
It certainly was not just a resort for surfers.
We met some wonderful people from all over the world and the resort was just fantastic.
There is nothing we would change it was perfect!
Thanks again Wendy to you and World Surfaris, we can't wait to go back!!

Dear Shaun & Alinda,
Just a quick email to say thankyou for organizing a fantastic surfing trip and romanitic holiday away for me and my partner in October to the Maldives, this being my second trip there I was far more impreseed with your overall services than with the previous company I traveled with.
As the owner of a successful Real Esate Company and being only 29 years of age you appreaciate so much more the effort companies such as yours go to make your holiday that extra special, your entire team must be commended, especially going that “extra mile” that is not expected.
Keep up the great work and after getting engaged in the Maldives (on my holiday)I look forward to booking my next trip with you being a Honeymoon/SurfTrip but we wont call it that will we??
Good Luck with your business.

Subject: Lohi's
Hi Shaun
Well - that was pretty special - the best - thanks very much for suggesting it, as a surf resort it ranks the best I've been to and as a resort apart from the surf it ranks the best.
Sometimes a bit crowded (10 -15 guys sometimes, 5, 6,7 most of the time, 1 or 2 sometimes ) but just perfect really - my last two days there was no one out and I had 10 -15 good rides and everything came together, I had improved and really did all I thought I could do. Lohi's is such an amazing left - theres something for everyone there - you had to be pretty quick going down the line sometimes but I like that - it was only really in the last week that everything started to work for me fully - it was pretty big and onshore in the first week and I got hammered a bit and my water fitness doesn't seem to come through until a few weeks, but I am so happy now . - plus - when the surf was not good (not often) or I wanted a break from it, I got my open water diving ticket , the sea life is really prolific, much more so than Fiji or Samoa , the guys at the
dive school were excellent and I in fact went on to do my advanced diving
certificate too! A real bonus - I'm still thinking about all the things that happened, and my hammock from the palm tree over the sea ......... next year.........
I am now back at work and will have another leave on 6 th November . Have you got any suggestions ? I met Olly(?) at Lohi's who told me about Asu - probably a bit heavy I think but if I can keep going and improve I would like to go surfing again this leave.

Subject: Honeymoon at Lohifushi
I decided to write this letter as I wanted to share this experience with other surfers.
I am 44 years old, live on the sunshine coast, still ride a short board and enjoy challenging waves.
In August 2002 I got married for the second time. My wife and I were looking for the ideal honeymoon location. We wanted somewhere that was exotic, romantic, relaxing and fun, but also had surf.
We thought about Fiji, Samoa etc, but there all outer reef breaks and require boat trips to ride them. That could be very boring for my new wife, who is not a surfer. We wanted somewhere that would suit both of us. Eventually we decided on Lohifishi in the Maldives.
Wendy from World Surfaris organized our trip. Down to the smallest detail including some helpful hints to make our stay more pleasant.
We left for the Maldives with an overnight stopover in Singapore on September 2nd. Singapore- What a fantastic city! The shopping, the sights, the food & the people! What a great place to start our honeymoon & break up the trip. The next evening we flew to Male where we were greeted by the Lohifushi island staff who whisked us away by speedboat to our island destination Lohifushi.
We awoke the next morning to paradise. Picture, postcard perfect. A truely beautiful island. Coconut palms lining the sandy beaches & crystal clear water.
Lohi's, the left hand break on one end of the island, has the most perfect waves imaginable - 4-6ft offshore, minimal crowd ( 8 max ) &
27degree water temp, & just to top it off, the Surf Bar which overlooks the break. A great spot to take photo's, sip cool drinks & meet some amazing people from all over the world.
For the non-surfer there were plenty of other things to do, like, snorkelling, diving , canoeing, boat trips to other nearby breaks & much more. We even watched an inter-island soccer match.
The whole experience is something we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We could'nt have picked a more perfect destination for a surfer with a non-surfing partner. We're definitely going back.
Wendy & Shaun at World Surfaris were the best people to deal with. They really listened to what we wanted & nothing was too much trouble. All we had to do was sit back & enjoy the holiday.
So, all you surfers with partners, get on the phone, book your trip & get over there. I promise you won't be disappointed because there's something for both of you.
Once again, thanks Wendy & Shaun at World Surfaris, you gave our marriage a wonderful beginning & it can only get better.
See you in the waves,
Tony & Petra
