About MV Saranya -Mentawais

MV Saranya was custom-built specifically for long distance cruising and with her incredible range of 1,000 nautical miles, allows her to explore Indonesia and the incredible surfing locations in West Sumatra.  Past passengers include Mick Fanning and mates and Nat Young and family.

The owners of M.V. SARANYA are very experienced in catering to surfers in Indonesia and has had 11 years experience throughout Asian waters from New Guinea in the East to Thailand in the West.  On top of this, Mangalui and Saranya communicate daily via HF radio and telephone regarding swell reports and current weather conditions and where the crowds are. This ensures passengers on both boats have the very best chance of scoring great, uncrowded waves.  Custom charters can be arranged anywhere in Sumatra including the Telos, Hinakos and Banyaks.

Saranya Surf Guide Harald Steinhuan

Saranya on Sunday 14th June 2009 appointed a new Surf Guide Harald Steinhaun, he his late twenties an excellent surfer he has lived in Padang - Mentawai's several years, in fact he has a small house in the Mentawai's and is very well known and liked amongst the surfing community here in Mentawai's. Harald has excellent knowledge of the breaks in the Mentawais and will have you in the best conditions possible.

Built in 1994 and with a complete refit in 1999 and a further major overhaul in Phuket in 2005/06 off-season.  She is fitted with all navigation and safety equipment and with all the aids and necessities for your every comfort. A full complement of equipment is listed in the inventory with the vessel description.

Charters include all meals, soft drinks, bottled water and 3 cold beers per day (plenty more beer available onboard at cost price)
