This region of the Maldives experiences a similar surf season to Indonesia. The best waves can be had from March to October, with the biggest swells likely to occur in June/July/August. Winds are are predominantly from the west direction (off-shore) and the swell direction is mainly South South East (SSE).

The surf generally ranges in size from 2-8 feet, however bigger days have been experienced. A great variety of reef breaks exist ranging in intensity from quite mellow shreddable walls to gnarlier hollow pits. There is something for everyone. Famous breaks include Jails, Sultans, Lohis, Cokes and Chickens and lesser known breaks such as Tucky Joes and Quarters can be incredible on their day.

The Male atolls host over a dozen quality breaks and a boat trip will give you an opportunity to sample all these between the South & North Male' atoll.  A stay at Hudhuranfushi Resort will have you surfing the most consistent left in the region 'Lohis' on a daily basis as well as access to half a dozen other breaks within 20 mins boat ride.  The South Male' atoll where Kandooma Resort is located is less consistent than the North Male' atoll due to straight south swells being block by the atoll to the south.  This atoll needs plenty of East in the swell to wrap in but when it's on it's on and our boat guides know when to sniff out the action down there.

There's no place on Earth like the Male' atoll for a full range on incredible waves within a short boat steam.  No big travel distances or wasted surf days due to travel in this region.
