At Casuarina, the coolest new beach spot on the Tweed Coast, Surfing Australia has just opened its High Performance Centre. This is our national institute of surfing, established to advance elite surfing in Australia and positioned internationally, as a pre-eminent sports training institution with world-class facilities and support services.
Guests holidaying at Casuarina can use the state-of-the-art facilities free-of-charge. They can take part in the Centre’s extensive outdoor sports training programs and have the option of joining group classes or booking one-on-one lessons with the Centre’s world-class trainers and coaches.

Also on call is Surfing Australia’s specialist support team from the Sports Treatment Centre – chiropractors, naturopaths, masseurs, podiatrists and physiotherapists.

For the kids there are junior surfing classes – available for seven year olds and up. There’s even a kids’ yoga class.
And for surfers and non-surfers alike, there are the High Performance centre’s fully-equipped cardio and strength resistance training facility featuring the world’s leading techno gym equipment, two tennis courts, 25m lap pool, and children’s pool. The whole family can keep fit with regular pilates, yoga, circuit training, box-exercise, Tai Chi and Kung Fu classes.

This means that whether you just want to recapture the surfing holidays of your youth or take a more serious approach to your sport, Casuarina is the perfect place to do it. For the serious athlete, Casuarina offers not only the High Performance Centre facilities but boasts some of Australia’s best training and conditioning experts to guide any level of athlete towards their full potential.

The Surf School at Casuarina Beach provides a diverse range of education and recreation opportunities for residents, holidaymakers and the wider regional community. All ages are welcome to participate in programs such as learn to surf (introductory lessons and holiday classes), progressive skill development certification, surf safety and awareness or intermediate coaching clinics.

With qualified friendly instructors and all equipment supplied, we have everything you need to kick-start your surfing lifestyle.

Local Surfbreaks:

The Fingal Region of Northern NSW offers a stack of surf options including Kingscliff & Cabarita (within 10mins drive). Casuarina Beach also offers consistent beach-breaks within walking distance from your accommodation. The famous Gold Coast breaks including the Snapper Rocks Superbank (Coolangatta) and Duranbah (Tweed Heads) are only a 15 minute drive and Byron Bay (The Pass) and Lennox Head (right hand point) are only 25 –30 minutes drive away. This really is SURF CENTRAL and the ideal base to maximise your surf-time in this plentiful surf region.

Casuarina Surf School Prices for beginner lessons.

• All prices are quoted are per person and inclusive of GST tax.
• Group lessons are based on minimum 2/Maximum 6 people
• Lessons will be 1.5 – 2hrs duration including meet and greet and travel time. * At least 30 minutes longer than lessons paid direct.
• Depending on surf conditions lessons will either be at Casuarina beach or on the tweed coast between Hastings Point and Fingal.
