CASUARINA - THE CLASSIC BEACH HOLIDAY WITH DESIGNER STYLE
On a long brilliant blue stretch of ocean at the heart of the Tweed Coast, Casuarina offers the simplicity of the classic beach holiday brought bang up to date thanks to the work of some of Australia’s best architects.

At Australia’s newest and hottest oceanfront address, you can choose from one of the many privately owned beach houses created by award-winning designers or opt for a one or two bedroom luxury apartment at the Mainwaring.
When it comes to creating a contemporary interpretation of the classic beach house, nobody does it better than leading Australian architect, John Mainwaring. Which is precisely why smart developer, Consolidated Properties Group appointed multi award-winning Mainwaring to design the first apartment precinct at its acclaimed oceanfront showcase. Consolidated Properties were so impressed, they even named the complex in recognition of his status as Australia’s foremost beach house designer.

Design
The Mainwaring is just completed and in designing it the master has outdone himself. Sixty stunning two-bedroom apartments sweep around the central village cluster, which comprises the Rec Club, bar, restaurant, deli, Town Hall office and info centre and conference facilities.
Casuarina Town Hall manager, Steven Maller, says the apartments have been designed using sustainability principles. Built in small clusters of four, they face north/north east to ensure maximum sea breezes in summer.
They are a faultless combination of timeless design and comfortable Queensland coastal style, recalling memories of the uncomplicated childhood beach holiday.
Decorator, Robyn McKendry of Magnolia Interiors, draws on a palette of soft colours and imported Designers Guild fabrics to complement Mainwaring’s architectural designs. Attention to detail and a consistently immaculate quality have been maintained throughout. For instance, china is Villeroy and Boch; bathroom products are by Bulgari.
Thanks to its sophisticated design, amazing location and extensive branding campaign, the resort promises to be the hippest property around.
Maller says the Mainwaring has been designed to create a village atmosphere. And property owners and guests alike have the best of all worlds – the natural beauty of the ocean beach and National Park backdrop, plenty of activity and superb dining and entertainment facilities in the village centre.

Dining
In the heart of the Mainwaring, Sandbar + Grill is the essence of modern beachside living.

In this stunning restaurant, award-winning chefs tantalise with Asian inspired dishes, which showcase the coastlines abundant seafood. The char grill offers up perfectly cooked prime cuts accompanied by amazing fresh produce, sourced locally from one of Australia’s most fertile regions.

The Sandbar features a relaxed yet stylish bar and lounge where locals and holidaymakers can catch up over a sunset cocktail, a chilled lager, or a dozen freshly shucked oysters. The only decision to be made is who gets the next round!

Attached to the Sandbar kitchen, the General Store is packed with essential ingredients needed for holiday survival. Chefs fill the deli fridge daily, local growers display their pick of the crop, and the shelves are crammed with gourmet delights.

The Sandbar + Grill is managed by acclaimed restaurateurs Toby Bamford (Host) and Greg Pieper (Executive Chef). The two have achieved great success as the operators of Kingscliff’s award winning Marine Restaurant, and are confident that the Sandbar + Grill will be met with a similar response. The two are adamant that they will maintain their beach lifestyle whilst running between the region’s two top restaurants.

The restaurant itself is designed by John Mainwaring, with the fit out done by Brisbane based interior design consultancy Yolk, who designed the spectacular Spoon Deli at James Street Markets.

Even though the restaurant features designs that would be at home in any cosmopolitan city, its airy spaces provide a relaxed coastal ambience.
